Our patterns are fundamental to who we are. These patterns show up in our personality, in our behaviour, in our opinions and beliefs.

These patterns are automated, repetitive and stop us from connecting with so much joy and liveness.

Until you see your pattern, you are stuck in it. The paradox is humans that think they are free, while all the time being stuck in mechanistic, automated behaviour.

When you see the pattern, you begin to step out of your ordinary way of responding, for the first time you get to step out of your routine way of seeing reality.

Hey Guys, I thought I would give you a quick update. We have been busy working on the next Awake version, and hopefully we will be launching the platform later in the year. It has taken a while, and there have been delays but we are getting there and looking forward to sharing with you what we’ve been working on very soon.

In the meantime I thought you might like to check out our new logo.

I have been writing the first program called ‘Way of the Hero’ - The course teaches you to face adversity, manage your emotions, and find inner peace. We will be teaching you the basics of Cognitive Behavioural therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and commitment therapy and ancient philosophy. All of these approaches are very helpful for overcoming your fears.

We’ve also got three more programs in the pipeline. ‘Higher Love - therapeutic wisdom for emotionally intelligent relationships’. Surviving Tinder - Learn, Grow & Evolve through the challenges of dating’ and finally ‘View Points - Enlightened perception for a peaceful future’

Looking forward to sharing all of these with you soon over the next few months. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Meditation isn’t just for the mind. 🧘🏼‍♂️ It helps balance hormones, relieves stress, boosts the immune system and clears the mind.

When we meditate it gives our mind time to reset, calm down and helps our subconscious mind operate from a place of harmony rather than from a place of fight or flight.

Think of your mind like a web browser, if you have too many tabs open, your computer slows down. Close some tabs & the computer runs smoothly again. Similarly, too many racing thoughts and mind clutter will slow you down, tune them down and you’re back to feeling sharp and present.

We weren’t designed to be constantly stimulated by thousands of notifications after all. Have you started making meditation a daily practice already?

Can mindfulness really become a daily practice? And how do you even start?

It’s a deep journey towards integrating mindfulness throughout our lives. Along the way, we’ll find periods of struggle and periods of great insight and change. Having said this, there are some very simple ways to start.

1. Start small and huild up your practice.
2. Identify a time of the day where you can consistently dedicate a designated amount of alone time
3. Select a clean, quiet and inviting space to practice in
4. Sit quietly and breathe as you immerse yourself in your mindfulness practice
5. Relax and notice what your body feels, what your mind is telling and what emotions are coming up. There’s no right or wrong way to practice, the most important thing is that this practice is right for you

It’s a way of connecting with yourself on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level. Yes it’s like “exercising without exercising” but it’s also a way for us to embrace the full spectrum of what it means to be human, giving our emotions a chance to be expressed, and by doing so, become unstuck. Transactional analysis teaches us about love dynamics in our relationships.

Like all transactions, their are units we exchange with each other. The units of love are what we call strokes. A stroke is the original unit of love. It comes from the stroke on the back a mother would give her child. This is the original unit of affection.

So the question is how do humans give and receive love in relationships. The stroke economy in transactional analysis outlines how and why this works.

Coherent breathing, or deep breathing, helps to calm the body through its effect on the autonomic nervous system.

It synchronise heart rate and even blood flow, with respiration. This process happens when we are breathing slowly and deeply. Specifically, this needs to happen at a rate of 5 breaths/minute (yes that is a 12-second long breath!!). The average person breathes at 15-20 breaths/min (some are at 30 or more!!).

When we don’t breathe coherently we become incoherent - in thought, behavior etc. This often becomes a lifetime habit, causing our sympathetic nervous system to operate on a flight or flight response. With coherent breathing we have access to our inner deep state of calm, it’s just a matter of slowing down your breath more than what you’re used to!
