Greetings😊! My life long passion is to educate. I know being educated can successfully change the trajectory of a child's life. In May of 2020 (during the height of the pandemic) my neighbor's five-year old son came to my door and said, in Spanish, "I want to do some work." I knew then I had to do something! So, I gathered him, his siblings and other neighborhood children and had an outdoor classroom on my deck for the summer. During that time Lowe's and iHeart radio were looking for an actual teachers doing "Compelling Work" during the pandemic. I auditioned, was selected and watch the video to see how I was blessed! I will bring this passion and heart to the school board. That is why I am YOUR candidate for the School Board District 6 Seat. A vote for Natalie Martin is an A+ vote. I appreciate your vote!🍎✅

Greetings! I’m getting ready for another busy week at school, but I want to take a few minutes to update my friends and supporters about a new development in my campaign for Nashville School Board.
Unfortunately, despite my track record as a career educator and member of the Metro Nashville Education Association (MNEA), the union has endorsed another candidate in the Democratic primary. As it turns out, I inadvertently missed the deadline to submit my candidate questionnaire because, well, I’ve been busy teaching. It was a simple paperwork oversight during a typically busy semester that’s even busier right now due to the ongoing pandemic recovery and preparing students for TCAP.
While I regret missing the MNEA questionnaire deadline, I fully understand the reason why it happened. In fact, it’s the same reason I’m running for school board. That reason is: I care about our students and I’ve been working overtime to help them during this extraordinary time. As long as I’m in the classroom, their needs come first. If I’m fortunate enough to win my school board race, I will retire from teaching, but continue to serve students and my fellow educators in a different role.
I’ve reached out to MNEA — as a teacher and a member — hoping that they might be willing to reconsider their endorsement deadline, but taking full responsibility for missing the deadline. In the meantime, I’m going to keep campaigning hard on nights and weekends in an effort to win the primary. I am running as a proud member of MNEA. Early voting begins April 13th and primary Election Day is May 3rd. I would sincerely appreciate your support. Remember a VOTE for Natalie Martin is an A+ vote. Thank you!

A special thank you to Quentin Dickerson for allowing us to meet and greet at The Bean Bag. Another meet and greet coming soon! Would love to see you there, have your support and YOUR vote on May 3rd. Vote Natalie Martin for an A+ Vote!✅🍎. (Early vote April 13th-28th)
See you TOMORROW, Saturday, March 19th, from 1pm-3pm for my official campaign kick-off for the District 6 School Board Seat at The Bean Bag located at 2940 Murfreesboro Pike. I would appreciate your support tomorrow and your A+ vote May 3rd (early voting: April 13th-18th). See you at The Bean Bag!
Greetings!🙂 This week has been a power packed week. Tuesday I attended the Council Meeting and last night I was present for the Davidson County Democratic Women Meet the Candidates ZOOM forum. The council meeting brought forth Ms. Honey as "the voice" for SEIU (Service Employee International Union) speaking for MNPS support staff requesting (again) a LONG overdue pay raise. MNEA (Metropolitan Nashville Education Association) president, Michele Sheriff, and other teachers, addressed the district-wide teacher/staff shortage and the adverse affects this shortage is having on our students and staff. These two issues are the WHY behind me being in the race for the District 6 School Board Seat. I want to be a part of the decision making process when it comes to these crucial matters that gravely impact MNPS students and staff. Vote Natalie Martin for School Board District 6 Seat...remember, it IS AN A+ VOTE!
Greetings! :-) I look forward to meeting you at my meet and greet Saturday, March 19th at the Bean Bag located on 2940 Murfreesboro Pike from 1pm-3pm. I truly appreciate your support! Remember a vote for me for School Board District 6 seat is an A+ vote. See you Saturday!
It has been a busy couple of nights! Monday night I was part of an illustrious forum hosted by the Pan Hellenic Council and the NAACP (link to view forum below). I was able to address issues about athletic funding for MNPS Schools and what support I would give to the constituents of District 6. Last night I attended the School Board meeting where the AVID process (Advancement via Individual Determination) was highlighted (note pictures) as well as book censorship, TISA (Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement) and the mask mandate were some of the important issues discussed. I am committed to being involved and gain information to keep YOU informed. Remember, I will work for YOU and a VOTE for Natalie Martin is an A+ vote!

Last night, Thursday, March 3rd, The Central Labor Council of Nashville/Middle Tennessee, held their Hybrid Platform Orientation at the BAC Local 8 Southeast building. It was very informative and educational. Michelle Sheriff, the President of MNEA shared information about the pay scale for support staff being hourly and the financial toll that is taking on our support staff. She also imparted information regarding the MNEA rally for fully staffing MNPS and many other matters that I am sure will be issues the school board will be a part of discussing. Currently, being a teacher, I could sincerely relate to the items Mrs. Sheriff shared. That is why VOTING for me, Natalie Martin, for your District 6 representive is the ONLY choice to make. I am the "real time voice" for the current and future concerns of MNPS. VOTE: Natalie Martin-District 6!

Being your District 6 school board representative, I will not only support events in our district, but those in others as well. In communities where collective support is given the children and the communities always win! Today I visited the Al-Farooq Community Center open house in School Board District 7. I was able to meet parents, children and community leaders of this district as well as district 6. Learned a lot, made friends and enjoyed new foods!
Want a School Board member who is actually a teacher, and has been for over 25 years? VOTE Natalie Martin! I will be the voice in "real time" for our parents, students, MNPS employees and stakeholders. Early voting is from April 13th-18th. Vote May 3rd!
Last night's School Board meeting was highly galvanized with differing opinions regarding the mask mandate, teachers who earned tenure were recognized, students from Hillwood gave personal accounts of their school experiences, the Boy Scouts were present and Dr. Changas presented POSITIVE district-wide MAP score results (note my previous post about the MAP test). Dr. Battle presented her mask mandate to have students wear them until after Spring break. Whereupon, parents would have an option to send their child(ren) to school without/without a mask. The Board will revisit the decision at the March 8th School Board meeting. Hope to see YOU there!

In our district we have some "hidden gem" things going on! I would like to spotlight Paragon Mills and their SEL (Social Emotional Learning) Teacher Dr. Della Bacote. Last spring Dr. Bacote applied for a wellness grant and it was awarded to their school! It was through the National Dairy Council and NFL Play 360 to implement a wellness club and purchase some equipment for their cafeteria. The wellness focus will encourage students, families, and staff to include dairy, fruits, and vegetables in daily meals. Kudos, Dr. Bacote, for having a heart for the health of everyone at Paragon Millsl! Please post some "shout outs" to Dr. Bacote and the Paragon Mills Family!
It is OFFICIAL! I am on the ballot for the District 6 School Board Seat. Make sure you come out and VOTE! A vote for me means a voice for District 6 Stakeholders in MNPS.

A Town Hall meeting was held on Wednesday, January 12th with the Commissioner of Education, Penny Schwinn. Many shared their ideas and concerns about the new student spending framework. As well as other vital heartfelt concerns. While in attendance, I noted that David Williams is NOT for per/student bonus (teachers given bonuses based on student performance), Hope Hall, librarian, stated that a state librarian coordinator is desperately needed, Honey H., from Tulip Grove, asked that dedicated funding be geared towards support staff and so much more. Greetings! My name is Natalie Martin and I am running for the District 6 School Board seat. I have lived in Nashville for 30 years, but am originally from Ballwin, MO (west of St. Louis). I have been an educator since 1988 and have served Tennessee's finest students in Jackson and Nashville. During that time I have educated English Language Students, and students in grades 5th-8th with an emphasis in Social Studies, English and STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) over the years. I also served as an elementary school assistant principal here in Nashville. I am running because I am committed to improving our students' academic stamina and social emotional well-being, by ensuring that the educational workforce, parents and our community are all viable to pour into our students.
