Devotees of our P**n Nasareno

17/03/2022

Inang Carmen was devoted to our P**n Nasareno. She passed her devotion to all of us, her sons and daughters, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. I think her life revolved around the P**n as she has to make sure that the image and His room is always clean and well lighted. During Holy week,Inang Carmen, will make sure that the carroza is already done, the flower decorations already opened and cleaned, the P**n's image cleaned and perfumed including His hair and the house ready for our relatives from Manila. Also the food and native cakes. It is quite expensive and exhausting to sponsor the Holy Thursday (already done with) Good Friday procession. We have to own a generator for the lights and also candles for the devotees, and pay for the band but my grandmother and us willingly work together to serve the Lord. My grandmother left a hactare of farmland to shoulder all expenses related to our P**n Nasareno. In addition, our well off relatives would contribute more for the expenses during procession.

They said that the image was acquired by my aunt, Estelita from the Ruz family. There was an inscription, found by Fr. Michael Gorospe that it was made in Malate Manila in 1934.
According to Aling Charing Castelo, the P**n Nasareno and the Virgin Mary started to be processed in 1945, after the WWII.

PROUD TO BE A 'Pablo': I was blessed to be a member of the Pablo family. My grandmother Carmen Enriquez (whom we call Inang Carmen, was hardworking woman, intelligent ( in spite of the fact she did not attend school because she feared Spanish priests as teachers} and with very good memory especially when it comes to loans "utang" she extended to her tenants. She not only remembered the amount of loan, but the reason for it. Like she would say "umutang ka ng P100 para ipagamot mo yung anak mong si Felipe. Hindi mo nga talaga maitatatwa ang utang. But she would ask his grandchildren to do the recording of expenses, income, as well as loans she extended. My brother Piring did much of that even he was just in elementary school. My Inang Carmen became a widow at very young age as my grandfather Ceferino "Ino" died at the age of 34. She inhereted 54 hactares of farm land located in Sitio Kalakian and Parang in Barangay Burgos. She also owned prime residential lots. And they own Botica Pablo operated by her eldest daughter, Estelita a UP graduate pharmasist.

MY SUPPORTERS:
I will rely on my relatives to campaign for me as well as my former classmates and friends from Central Elementary School and JOLHS. Also my brothers' and sisters classmates and friends; and our family's political allies.

I am not new in politics since our family are in politics long before.
Here at Villa Dinna where I presently reside; and owned and built by my aunt Segundina; her daughter Nelia ( deceased /married to Luis Valencia, conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Cultural Center of the Pilippines) was a former mayor of Aliaga, Nueva Ecija. Also Virgilio Abesamis Sr. served as OIC Mayor under Cory Aquino. He was my uncle; since he was married to my aunt Dr, Catalina Pablo.

My father Jose Pablo was active as a politician. He was formerly a Liberal Party member together with former mayor Narciso Andres.
Later on he change party and joined the Nacionalista Party of former mayor Dr. Ceferino de Leon. He helped former mayor Jacobo Garcia when he ran for mayor.

At that time my brother Ceferino won as number 2 councilor. He never collected his salary because he said he is a public servant and he wanted to serve gratis.

My elder sister, Loretta "baby" was number one kagawad In Bargy 333 dIstrict III in Manila. During her lifetime she was active in her barangay as well as my sister, nieces and nephews and now our grandson Bryan BAB Emmaneul Bacongol is SK chairman of Brgy 333 He is recipient of many awards from Mayor Isko Moreno and now 4th year law student at the University of Santo Tomas.

I leave my fate to our Lord Almighty. I believe He will make me win if it is for the good of all of us and for his glory.

During the 60's it is quite expensive to obtain education since there is not much universities and colleges in the province public or private. Also employers preferred graduates from the University belts and exclusive colleges and schools.
So we have to stay with our "kaseras" or hire a room or apartment if we can afford.

We hired an apartment in 12th Avenue and Liberty Street in Camp Crame near my cousin Lita Sales Toledo's house. That gave us the opportunity to get close with my relatives on my father's side. I got invited every time relatives would come like when my uncle Dr. Gil Pablo arrived or when my Tia Denang and Tia Naty arrived from the Province. There are many dinner parties at my cousins house and at times I have to sleep there so as to continue with our chats and updates since we are all Maritess! Joe Toledo often complained of our late nights updates specially he would not want ate Lita to have insomia
