The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council and UVic Office of Indigenous Academic & Community Engagement are pleased to partner and offer a soccer and basketball camp to Indigenous youth (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) ages 10 - 17 from the Vancouver Island Region.

The Indigenous Action Artist Mentorship Program is offering a training workshop on July 3rd in Langley, BC.
Have you ever thought about a career in film? This could be your opportunity to join one of the fastest growing industries. This course will cover what it takes to be a stunt performer, what stunt gear looks like, costs, what a stunt reel and stunt resume looks like. You’ll learn about set etiquette and expectations that will help you present yourself like a seasoned pro when called to work.
You’ll get to try:
- Film fighting (Striking, choreography, reactions, break falls)
- Wire work/Rigging (Harnesses and equipment)
- Movement (Body awareness, rolls, basic acrobatics)
- Weapons training (Firearm handling, stick and knife fighting etc.)

We are looking for a highly motivated Production Trainee hoping to break into the Film and TV industry. You will be working with the cast and crew of Moosemeat & Marmalade, participating in the prep, filming, and post-production for Season 7. Duties include, but not restricted to, assisting the production team in the office, during location scouts, on-set production duties such as camera support, as well as craft service and administrative departments. Must have Class 5 Driver's license.

Experience in Social Media Management, Photography, and Microsoft office will be considered a strong asset. Pay is $18/hour. Join in for a fun 4 days/week work schedule and explore Vancouver Island communities with us! We look forward to working with you.

Happy 2022! We hope you all enjoyed the holiday season and are as excited as we are to get on track for 2022.

We would like to celebrate by sharing with you our most recent webinar series now up on our YouTube Channel.
Xpey' Wellness in partnership with First Nations Health Authority and First Peoples' Cultural Council, developed a five-part webinar series called Language of Wellness. The series focuses on Indigenous language revitalization and the important connections between language and health. Each webinar in the series features one language from the Vancouver Island region as well as topics related to inter-generational language learning. All sessions include discussions about the connections between culture, land and wholistic health.

With the support of these partners and First Nations community leaders, the FNHA is pleased to help people learn and share about four of the six languages spoken in the Vancouver Island region: Nuu-chah-nulth, Hul'q'umi'num, SENĆOŦEN and Kwak'wala. Language speakers participating in the webinars included included Dr. Arvid Charlie, Chuutsqa Rorick, Chief Robert Joseph, JSIṈTEN Dr. John Elliott Sr, SX̱EDŦELISIYE Renee Sampson-James, PENÁW̱EṈ Elliott, and PENÁĆ David Underwood.

The Language of Wellness Webinar series!

Join us in a 5 part Webinar series on Language Revitalization!

This 5-Part Series focuses on Indigenous Language Revitalization on Vancouver Island and the important linkages found between language and health. The webinar aims to demonstrate how language learning and revitalization can be a holistic and important approach to health and well-being.

The series will explore topics around inter-generational language learning as well as the connections between culture, land and holistic health while focusing on a specific language at each session. The webinar will be led by First Nations Elders, Language Champions/activists, and language learners/speakers. By highlighting their work, we hope to uplift the valuable role those working to preserve and transmit language hold in promoting culture and wellness in First Nations communities.

The Language of Wellness Webinar series is brought to you by First Nations Health Authority Vancouver Island Region in partnership with Xpey' Wellness and the First Peoples' Cultural Council.
