Let’s break the stigma around mental health and su***de and start the conversation.
The Native Connections Program was able to participate this year in the summer youth work program. We had 2 interns, Valani Andrews and Khaysha LeftHandBull, who created their own digital story. During this process they did photography, learned to use a recording microphone and how to turn a power point into a video. These two worked hard and built up their confidence to be able to share ways they keep their minds healthy and what inspires them.
Here is the video Khaysha LeftHandBull created.

Wow! This is amazing! What a great partnership!
We are working with the Washington State Department of health to help spread the word on teen su***de and mental illness through a slice of pizza. As some know I’ve had a long time career in death investigation. As I try to keep my business life and profession separate I find the utmost importance to bring the two together for a an important cause. We have all struggled this past year with this pandemic and life in general and a lot of stress has been put on our children as well as adults. I’ve dealt professionally with su***de more times then I’d like to count as well as personally. Seeing first hand the affects of su***de makes me want to scream at the top of the mountain. Whether it be teens or adults it’s something that needs attention, understanding and words. People need to feel free to talk about it. Su***de is NOT a taboo subject and therefore should not be hidden or ignored. Mental illness is real and OK to talk about.

Great news!!
We are moving to PHASE 2 effective Monday, February 15, 2021.
"The Department of Health will reassess the metrics every two weeks and inform us of any changes to
our region’s phase status. The COVID-19 reopening dashboard displays a summary map and table. In order
to remain in Phase 2, our region must continue to meet at least three of the four metrics. If our region is in
Phase 2 and no longer meets at least three of the metrics, we will move back to Phase 1." ~ Per Washington DOH
