First we hydrate, then we donate.💦 It’s no secret that staying hydrated is vital to our overall health and it’s even more important if you’re a blood or plasma donor.

Drinking plenty of water before and after your donation helps with circulation, can make veins easier to find, helps your body replenish lost fluid, and can even make your donation appointments go quicker.

We recommend hydrating first thing in the morning since we often get dehydrated during the night. If you need a visual cue, carrying a reusable water bottle is a helpful hydration reminder throughout the day. Cheers! 🚰

The well-timed nap comes with many benefits to your emotional and physical well-being, including boosting your mood, improving your memory, increasing productivity, and reducing inflammation in the body, which can help support immunity.

Our tips for nailing your next nap? 💤
• Nap early in the day
• Keep naps brief—ideally 20-30 minutes
• Give yourself permission to rest
• Create a nap routine. Make it as dark, cool, and quiet as possible. Try an eye mask or a weighted blanket, if those help you.

The easiest way to have a quick and easy donation? Hydrate. We recommend increasing your water intake in the 24 hours leading up to your appointment.

Unlike whole blood donations, which can be done 1x every 56 days, plasma donors can make even more of an impact with their donations and donate 2x every 7 days. 📅

Keep in mind that you'll have to allow for 1 day in between donations so that your body can recover. Since plasma is 90% water, it only takes about 24-48 hours for the body to regenerate its plasma.

You may wonder what happens to your plasma after your donation. 🤓💭 Post-donation, your plasma is frozen to preserve its quality, tested, and then transferred to a fractionation facility.

During fractionation, the plasma proteins are carefully extracted and turned into medicine for patient populations who need it the most.
