對吐瓦魯人來說，台灣是很好的姐妹，也是最大的捐贈者之一。台灣一向以來都給予吐瓦魯很大方的醫療資源協助和農業經驗分享，吐瓦魯也總在國際場合上力挺台灣，可見雙方情誼的珍貴之處～

Today we’re going to share about “how is Taiwan in Tuvaluans’ impression?”
Taiwan is like a sister to Tuvaluans, and in fact, Taiwan is one of the main donators. Tuvalu is very thankful that Taiwan always share the agricultural experiences and provide medical assistance to Tuvalu. On international occasions, Tuvalu supports Taiwan, helping Taiwan to get rid of all kinds of difficulties. All of the above could show that the relationship between two countries is so precious.

今天，我想來點「台灣人在吐瓦魯做什麼？」
🥬你知道嗎？吐瓦魯人對台灣的第一印象是一週兩次的蔬果市集喔！台灣人在吐瓦魯除了進行學術交流，也有專業的農技團在當地種植吐瓦魯因為土壤特性而不容易種植的蔬菜水果，並在市集販售。
🏥當我們同在醫起，其快樂無比～～在吐瓦魯也可以見到台灣醫生呢！台灣醫療團不但在吐瓦魯提供醫療服務，更和當地醫療系統合作，互相交流醫療相關資訊，就算在疫情期間也不中斷噢！

Today, let’s take a look at things that Taiwan is doing in Tuvalu!
🥬Did you know that Tuvaluan’s first impression of Taiwan is bazaar held twice every week. Taiwan Technical Mission has devoted to growing vegetables and fruits which is difficult to plant due to the fact that Tuvalu is composed of coral reefs.
🏥Tuvaluan can consult a Taiwanese doctor when needed. TaiwanICDF not only provides medical care for Tuvaluan, but exchange information with local hospitals. The close cooperation didn’t stop despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

今天讓我們來看看吐瓦魯🇹🇻為環境問題所做的努力吧！

「吐瓦魯政府」
吐瓦魯朝野政要皆高度重視環境問題，尤以在國際上具有聲量的吐瓦魯外交部長Simon Kofe為代表，除了在媒體及各峰會呼籲，他也提出吐國政府數位化、反思國際公法中以陸地為基準的國家承認等新穎的概念。面臨相同問題的南太各島國也在國際場合中大力支持相關提倡，聯合國氣候變化綱要公約（UNFCCC）也為此設立相關計畫。

「人民」
藉由訪問當地營養師Mili Naroba 我們得知如SavingTuvalu 等組織是由大部分的外國人與一小部分吐瓦魯人推廣，而環境議題的確也因可見的傷害而為吐瓦魯人所熟知。在垃圾問題上，他們禁用塑膠製品，因此外帶、購物大都自備容器，是一個我們所有人都值得試試的好方法！

Let’s talk about Tuvaluans' actions on the environmental problems!

‘’Tuvalu's government’’
From governors to citizens, Tuvalu highly regards environmental issues. Tuvaluan minister for justice, communication, and foreign affairs, Simon Kofe, may be the most famous one in the media. Not only does he advocate media and summits, but he proposes the digitalization of Tuvalu's government, and reflects‘’ if there is no territory, can Tuvalu be called ‘’a country?’’ South Pacific countries that face the same problem strongly support Tuvalu on international occasions, UNFCCC( United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) also create the relative program.

‘’Tuvalu residents’’
We chatted with Mili Naroba, a Nutritionist who lives in Tuvalu, and got to know that some organizations like SavingTuvalu, are run by foreigners (mostly) and a few Tuvaluans. Environmental issues also are known by all Tuvaluans because of visible damages. On garbage problem, they ban plastics so they will prepare containers and bags when shopping. It's a perfect method to decrease the amount of garbage!

在昨天的貼文中簡單的說明了吐瓦魯的地理條件及「淹沒問題」，今天讓我們來看看實際上吐瓦魯🇹🇻面臨哪些環境問題！

「海平面上升🌊」
海浪的沖刷導致當地大宗的林投樹、椰子樹及麵包果樹樹根裸露，為一種顯而易見的指標。雖然「吐瓦魯的總領土是否有因海平面上升而縮小？」仍有待商榷，但已經有居民因此搬離原本家園🥲即使領土有增加的部分，也不一定適合人們生存。

「垃圾污染🚮」
過去吐瓦魯人的生活皆取於自然，廢棄物以露天堆積的方式也能自然分解、回歸環境；但現今進口至吐瓦魯的外國商品使用塑膠、金屬等材質包裝，過去的垃圾處理方法導致了垃圾山的景象。另外，吐瓦魯也為隨洋流而來的境外垃圾所苦。

“Sea-level rising🌊”
Waves have caused tree stumps exposed. Mostly Screw-pines, coconut trees, and breadfruit trees. It's visible damage that is happening now. Though we cannot be sure whether Tuvalu's territory becomes smaller, there have been already some residents forced to leave their homes. We can see that it doesn't mean it will be habitable for humans even if Tuvalu gained territory.

“Garbage pollution🚮”
In the past, Tuvaluans used natural materials in life, so wastes could decompose after being disposed of in an open-air way. However, there are some imported products made of plastic and metal nowadays, which are hard to deal with. Besides, Tuvalu also suffers from the overseas garbage which comes with currents.

在昨天的challenge中我們看見有些朋友對吐瓦魯的印象之一是「淹沒」。真的會淹沒？淹沒會怎樣？不能搬家嗎？
因此在往後的三篇文章中，我們會淺談吐瓦魯國的危機與努力！

「地理條件🔺」
位於南太平洋的吐瓦魯由九個小島組成，熱帶氣旋（tropical cyclone）和潮汐就足以造成嚴重災害或低窪地區淹水。

「真的會淹沒嗎？🌊」
「全球暖化-海平面上升-低窪地區被淹沒」似乎是非常合理的推斷，但實際上真是如此嗎？相關研究（詳見資料來源）顯示某些島嶼的面積並沒有縮小，反而在海浪侵蝕與堆積等交互作用下變得更大了！但這並不代表我們能鬆一口氣--因為在這複雜的環境系統中我們唯一能確定的是，假使環境繼續被破壞，吐瓦魯必定變得愈來愈不適合人居，無關面積問題。

In the challenges yesterday, some of our friends have a ''sinking'' impression of Tuvalu. Will this happen? What will it be like if Tuvalu sinks? Can't they move to other places?
So, in the following three posts, we are going to talk about the Tuvalu crisis and their effort against environmental problems!

''Geographic conditions🔺''
Tuvalu, located in South Pacific Ocean, is comprised three reef islands and six true atolls. Tropical cyclones and tides have enough power to cause severe damage and flooding in low-lying areas.

''Is sinking possible?🌊''
''Global warming- sea level rise- low-lying areas sink'' seems to make sense, but is it correct? Relative research (finds in ''資料來源 Resource''）shows that some islands get bigger than before because of the interaction like erosion and accumulation! But it doesn't mean that we can feel free with the sea-level raising problem, all we can be sure of is, that if the environment is damaged as well, Tuvalu will be more difficult for humans to live, no matter how many acres Tuvalu has.

跳舞是很正常、普及的活動，在很多場合都有大家一起跳舞的環節。

🇹🇻國土面積小
國家首都Funafuti跟小琉球差不多大 其他八個島比首都之島還要更小！全國面積僅26平方公里，為世界上國土面積大小倒數第四的國家。

🇬🇧曾被殖民
曾被英國殖民，吐瓦魯國旗左上方的英國國旗即意指他是大英國協成員。

👩‍🏫教育
吐瓦魯人如果想接受高等教育，通常會以鄰近的斐濟🇫🇯、澳洲為主，當然，身為友邦，台灣也曾有許多吐瓦魯的留學生歐！（但疫情打亂了一切😢）另外，南太平洋大學（University of the South Pacific) 於包括吐瓦魯在內的12個太平洋島國皆設有分校區，也同樣是吐瓦魯人民於學術研究的管道之一！

🗣語言
以吐瓦魯語為主，但有一部分的吐瓦魯人精通於英文。英文也被吐瓦魯國列為官方語言喔！

Here are some basic points u should know about Tuvalu!
-💃dancing(fatele)
To Tuvaluans, dancing is an activity which is pretty normal and universal. There are lots of occasions that the Tuvaluans dance together.
-🇹🇻national territory
The country’s capital-Funafuti is as small as Xiao Liuqiu. The other islands in Tuvalu are even smaller than the capital island. Tuvalu’s territory area is just about 26 km².
-🇬🇧colonial history
Tuvalu is former British colony. The British flag on the left upper side of the Tuvalu national flag means that Tuvalu is a member of Commonwealth of Nations.
-👩‍🏫education
When Tuvaluans want to receive higher education, they mainly choose to go to the nearby countries, such as Australia and Fiji.
Taiwan, as a country with diplomatic relationship, used to open to several Tuvaluans to study here.
/unfortunately the pandemic messed everything up/
University of the South Pacific also sets up a branch in Tuvalu, providing Tuvaluans an environment to do academic research!
-🗣language
Tuvaluan is the main language in the country, and most of the Tuvaluans use this language in their daily life. However, their official language is English!
