Trinkets by Tori

I just realized I haven't really posted on here, or talked about why I do what I do. So for those that are interested, here it is:

I've been part of the LGBTQ+ community for over half my life, after coming to understand I wasn't really the way the world told me I should be. After a long struggle with my identity, I came to understand I was happier as a woman, and that was what I set out to be. But this wasn't without it's own set of challenges.

I've always had a love for fashion, from clothes to shoes, and accessories that make a look complete. But, being transgender, I quickly learned that most things weren't made for someone who wasn't petite or "typically" shaped. Necklaces were either too small, or they barely fit. Bracelets were always just a bit small. And earrings never sat properly in my lobes. It caused a lot of self image issues, and also, some regret. How would I ever see myself as who I wanted, if I couldn't look the way I wanted?

Then, one day, it dawned on me. I had an extensive background in design, and plenty of mechanical knowledge. I knew how to use the tools, and was already good working with my hands. So, I purchased a mass produced necklace with an 18" chain. I already knew it would be too small, but I was determined. I found some similar chain in the crafting area, and set to work. I measured, cut, adjusted, and finally put everything together. I modified my first necklace, making it long enough wear as it was intended.

That was the spark. I realized at that moment, the only true limit to how i could look was my own creativity. And I knew how deep that well went. Since then, I've modified or created nearly every piece of jewelry I own to fit my body, the way I wanted it too. But why should I be the only one to benefit from what I could do? I believed this was something to share with the world.

Thus, Trinkets by Tori was created. I wanted a way to share myself, my ideas, and my happiness of having accessories that not only fit, but also matched my personality with the world. That's what I intend to do. I hope that, with a specially designed piece, that fits your body, your personality, your lifestyle, that you can feel the joy I got having my very first, well fitting necklace. I hope your smile is as big as mine was that day, and you're as proud to wear your pieces as I was to wear mine.

I still have that necklace. It's still one of my favorites. And though I've come up with dozens of fancier ideas, it still holds a special place, reminding me every day, why I do what I do. To bring happiness to people, who just want the world to see them as they truly are.
