You know the saying that "change is the only constant"? This can be incredibly empowering; if you are feeling like you are stuck in a cycle and can't see your way out, or telling yourself that you have always been this way and that you can't possibly be any other way, the one thing to remember about life is that change happens all the time. You can be the catalyst for that change, you just have to allow yourself to be open to that possibility

Do you get the feeling that you “should” be doing something else, and you think about all of the things you want to do and feel like you should be doing, and yet you still for some reason find yourself watching the US Office for hours? I have been there!! 

The something that's holding you back is known in hypnotherapy circles as the secondary gain - although this can seem completely contradictory, something about staying stuck and stagnant is giving you a benefit. This could be that you feel safer this way, because putting yourself out there can be scary! The secondary gain can be different for all of us, and that's where I come in. 

Working together we can uncover what this secondary gain in, and work to integrate this into your life in a new way, and allowing you to move on.

Do you feel like you're stuck in an anxiety cycle? I've been there many many times, and it can be incredibly difficult to get yourself out.

Sometimes all it takes is stepping back from a situation and trying to find a new perspective. Try writing down a list of what the best outcome would be, and where in your life you feel you are already achieving those things. Write just one action to take that week, and keep things small. As my mum always says to me the only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time! Although as a vegetarian I'm against eating elephants as a rule 😉

I took this on my run just now; I'm 3 weeks into the fantastic app that helps you go from nothing to running 5k in 9 weeks. It's actually taken me more than 3 weeks so far to get to this point, due to headaches, period pains 😭, business etc etc but I'm proud of myself that I'm still going! The point is that I'm trying, and as long as I keep trying and don't beat myself up about not keeping to the exact timings, I know I'll get to my goal.

And along the way I get to look at these beautiful views!

I've been really enjoying reading this book - so uplifting and makes you realise all the things you're capable of. If you're looking for a bit of motivation I would highly recommend giving this a go
