Lessons the corporate world teaches about success
Your value depends on the problems you can solve
In the corporate world, those who often get promoted are not the ones who work hard, but those who
have shown great ability to solve problems and handle issues that arise in the company.
You may not see your supervisor or manager physically working all the time, but they earn more than
you because they are efficient at avoiding, handling, and fixing problems.
And that’s why whenever you’re putting up a business or deciding if you want to pursue a project, the
first thing you ask is what problem will it solve for the customer. When you become a solutions provider,
the money will follow.
Empathy
The key to social relationships is having a deep understanding of others. We must be able to put
ourselves in another’s shoes, see the world from their perspective, and understand what they are likely
thinking and feeling.
In short, empathy is the key to social relationships. Empathy is the capacity to understand and even feel
the experience of another.

Ways to be Kinder to Yourself
Taking more time for yourself
Choosing to spend time alone can benefit your social relationships, improve your creativity and
confidence, and help you regulate your emotions so that you can better deal with adverse situations. It’s
not that solitude is always good, but it can be good, if you’re open to rejecting the idea, common in the
west, that time by yourself is always a negative experience you’re being forced into.
Solitude helps us regulate our emotions, it can have a calming effect that prepares us to better engage
with others. Getting better at identifying moments when we need solitude to recharge and reflect can
help us better handle negative emotions and experiences, like stress and burnout.

Taking time to do nothing at all
Running from place to place and laboring over long to-do lists have increasingly become ways to
communicate the status of ‘I’m so busy because I’m just so important’, the thinking goes. Perhaps it’s
time to stop all this busyness.
Being busy, if we even are busy, is rarely the status indicator we’ve come to believe it is. Nonetheless, the
impact is real, and instances of burnout, anxiety disorders and stress-related diseases are on the rise, not
to mention millennial burnout.
One way out of this madness is doing nothing. Counter-intuitively, idleness can be a great productivity
tool because if our energy is totally shot, our productivity is not going to be good because we’re not
going to have fuel to burn with which to be productive.
What you don’t see is the chicken underneath and the almonds I added. Supper yummy and easy🤗. Best part is eating healthy and loving it❤️🙌

Ways to be Kinder to Yourself
Cultivating more casual, low-staking friendships
Think of the parents you see in the drop-off line at school, your favorite bartender, the other dog owners
at the park. These are called low-stakes relationships, i.e., weak ties. Not only can these connections
affect our job prospects, they also can have a positive impact on our well-being by helping us feel more
connected to other social groups.
Weak ties can offer recommendations for services and empower us to be more empathetic. We’re likely
to feel less lonely, too. The more weak ties a person has, e.g., neighbors, a barista at the neighborhood
coffee shop or fellow members in a spin class, the happier they feel. Maintaining this network of
acquaintances also contributes to one’s sense of belonging to a community.

Ways to be Kinder to Yourself Enjoying things when they’re good
Worrying about when “the other shoe will drop” will only steal your current joy. Students who predict getting a poor grade on an exam felt bad for days before receiving their results. Worse, their stressing didn’t diminish the disappointment they felt once they got their scores.
One underlying reason people worry is that on some level they assume it helps. Yet we need to accept that we can’t perfectly prepare for potential challenges. There are an infinite number of bad things that could possibly happen, although most are unlikely, and there is just no way a person can anticipate them all.
Keep in mind that we are notoriously bad at predicting how we will feel in a given situation, and things often go better than we imagine they will in moments of fear. People find they worry about everything bad that could possibly happen so that they won’t be taken off guard. What really bothers them is that although they do sometimes experience bad things, they are never the ones they thought about.

Ways to be Kinder to Yourself Leaning into your Guilty Pleasures
The TV shows and movies we love, even though we just know they’re bad, the trashy books we simply can’t put down, the awful earworms we hate to love, these are our guilty pleasures, what some people consider the junk food in our media diets. But if we enjoy them, why should we feel guilty?
We should be free to enjoy whatever we like. As it turns out, these so-called guilty pleasures can actually be good for us, so long as they’re enjoyed in moderation. When we rest, we think we’re supposed to use that time productively with problem solving. While that may be good for survival, constantly running through hypothetical problems is not very good for happiness.
Taking a mental break and enjoying something that doesn’t require intense intellectual focus gets us out of the problem-solving mode, and it can also improve our ability to productively deal with stressors and help us engage more positively with other people.

Embracing the unexpected joy of repeat experiences
Novelty is so overrated, and research has shown that you’re far more likely to enjoy something the second time around than you think. Doing something once may engender an inflated sense that one has now seen it, leaving people naive to the missed nuances remaining to enjoy.
When an experience has many layers of information to unveil, it’s probably a good bet to repeat it. The rub is that it’s hard to tell which experiences will be like this, and people are too quick to assume that they’ve seen all the layers even in those cases where they haven’t.
Eating healthy should be simple and fun. It's all about getting back to the basics. I started my health journey 8 months ago. Fast forward to the present and I've decided I want to share my story and continue on this journey with others. No matter how similar or different our stories may be the goal is the same, to be healthy, fit, and have fun while doing it.
I'll share more details of my story in the day's to come. For now let's talk healthy snacking.
Blueberries and raspberries are two of my favorite. Throw in a granny smith apple with some almond butter. Oh and don't forget to top it off with some cinnamon. This is delicious

Accepting a Compliment, even if it’s from yourself
Pumping yourself up after a big win can feel a little awkward. You want to acknowledge good work, but you don’t want to feel arrogant. It’s that tricky balance of quietly reveling in a job well done without coming off as a jerk.
Despite that awkwardness, getting credit for your work gives your brain good feelings and helps you accomplish more. Companies use praise to try to boost productivity and even revenue, and the psychological impact of keeping a positive view of your accomplishments can decrease stress and encourage better habits.
Even if you’re bad at taking a compliment, or you’re not getting external recognition, you can still enjoy major psychological benefits from celebrating your achievements on your own.
Journaling once daily
This is priceless. A journal is the single most valuable thing you could possibly keep for yourself. If your apartment ever caught on fire, you should probably risk your life to save two things: your laptop and your box of journals.
If you journal every single day, or even once a week, it might feel tedious in the moment, but down the road, and the longer down the road you get, the more valuable those journals will become to you.
They will remind you of different parts of yourself, and you will be able to reflect back and better understand why you were the way you once were.

Thai Lettuce Wraps from Darlene Schmidt on the website "The Spruce Eats"
Ingredients
1 head lettuce (iceberg fresh, or prepackaged lettuce for wraps)
3 garlic cloves (minced)
1 piece galangal (or ginger thumb-sized, grated)
1 red chili (red, minced or 1/4 to 1/3 teaspoon chili flakes)
2 shallots (sliced finely)
1/2 cup tofu (firm, cut into matchsticks; if not vegan, try 1/2 cup cooked, shredded chicken or pork or 1 to 2 cups cooked baby shrimp)
1 carrot (grated or cut into thin strips)
5 to 6 mushrooms (thinly sliced)
1 egg (omit if vegan)
1/2 cup cabbage (shredded)
3 spring onions (sliced)
2 cups bean sprouts (plus extra for topping)
2 tablespoons lime juice
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons fish sauce (or 2 tablespoons soy sauce if vegan)
1 tablespoon oyster sauce (if vegan, use vegetarian oyster sauce or vegetarian stir-fry sauce)
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/3 cup fresh basil (or mint fresh, chopped if leaves are large)
1/3 cup peanuts (fresh dry roasted roughly chopped)
1 cup bean sprouts (fresh)
2 tablespoon oil (for stir-frying)
Steps to Make It
Drizzle oil into a wok or large frying pan over medium-high heat.
Add garlic, ginger, chili, and shallots. Stir-fry one minute, or until fragrant.
Add tofu (or shrimp/chicken/pork), carrot, shiitake mushrooms, cabbage, and spring onions. As you stir-fry, add the lime juice, soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce (or vegetarian substitutes) and sprinkle over the sugar. Stir-fry about 1 minute.
Push ingredients to the side of the wok or pan, and crack in the egg. Stir-fry quickly to break the yolk. Mix in with the other ingredients.
Add the bean sprouts and stir-fry briefly to mix (avoid over-cooking or they will go limp). Remove from heat and do a taste-test for salt, adding more fish sauce if needed.
Cut off the stem part of the iceberg lettuce so it's easier to separate the leaves. Now place the lettuce, stir-fried filling, and the toppings on your table in separate bowls/plates, allowing guests to make their own wraps.
To assemble, take a whole lettuce leaf and place 1 to 2 heaping tablespoons of filling in the center. Top with a sprinkling of fresh basil and peanuts plus fresh bean sprouts if desired. Then wrap up and eat. (For those who like it extra spicy, fresh-cut chili can be added as another topping.)
A good starting point is to explore how intellectual dishonesty differs from regular dishonesty. When someone is being simply dishonest, they are often misrepresenting a clear fact e.g. ‘no, I did not take that last cookie!’ If that is the case, they may need to focus on how to stop lying.
Intellectual dishonesty is not applying the same intellectual rigor or weighting to your own beliefs as you do to the beliefs of others. It may not be as simple as someone lying; someone may just ignore holes in their own thinking or logic, as it doesn’t fit with their intended outcome.
Intellectual dishonesty also often relates to being closed-minded and not being open to others’ points of view. People react by being intellectually dishonest to make the facts suit their opinion. Avoiding other opinions or new information makes it much easier to reach your intended conclusion.
If someone is genuinely intellectually honest, they are willing to change their opinion, even if it may not suit their goals. They care more about having high standards of truth than being ‘right’. They will be unbiased in their selection of sources to support their argument and they will adequately reference any sources they use.
