Hello my fabulous
Hope you are all keeping well.
Finally we have some better weather so I can go out to my aviary to get some natural vitamin D. I’m really happy in my aviary. First I took a bath in my water bowl and then I went to sit on the most sunny spot and preened. What a relaxing time I had.
We are prone to vitamin D deficiency so we need natural or ultraviolet light to keep ourselves healthy as it helps our nutrition absorption. Not enough vitamin D can also lead to calcium deficiency as calcium doesn’t absorb well without enough vitamin D. Vitamin D and calcium deficiency can lead to serious health issues such as nervousness, weakness, seizures...
So step with us outside my friends and enjoy the sun β˜€οΈ whenever you can. We will benefit but you will too.
Do you like sunshine and fresh air my friends? Please share with me.

Hello my wonderful feathered friends
Today are celebrating the mighty African Grey and they have kindly sent me their new Christmas collection toys for free. I was absolutely amazed how fabulous the toys were in my special delivery. I loved unpacking these bright and festive toys as much as mum did.
I have received 5 amazing festive colour toys.
1. Green and red stuff ball foraging foot toy which is great for stuffing with small favourite treats.
2. My own Christmas cracker which could be stuffed with bits of nuts and other treats.
3. Wooden Christmas tree will give me an opportunity to shred my own Christmas tree
4. A wooden stacker with a jingle bell in the middle to jingle my way to Christmas
5. A cotton Christmas wreath full of red wooden beads to take off and to preen.
I wasn’t scared unpacking my new toys when they were in their bags but I’m a bit scared of them when they came out of the packaging. As with any other new toys it takes me some time to warm up to them.
Thank you for sending me these awesome toys ahead of Christmas. I’m sure I’ll be happily playing with them on Christmas Day!
It’s definitely a FUNTASTIC pack of toys worth having during festive season❀️ You can get yours http://bit.ly/NorthernParrots

Hello my wonderful
Hope you are all keeping well.
I received numerous questions about your parrots loosing many feathers. It is a normal molting process every parrot goes through and often last around 2 months.
In the wild it is a very orderly process where parrots loose a couple of feathers on one wing, which gets quickly replaced by new feathers and then the same happens on the other wing.
That way the bird is still able to fly and stay balanced.
They stay insulated.
There are no bold patches.
This all happens during a certain time of the year.
However, in birds kept in captivity, molting doesn’t always happen in an orderly manner as parrots internal body clock is different to wild parrots. They lose occasional feather every now and again or molt at certain time of the year. Sometimes more, sometimes less. It all depends on the lifestyle of the pet bird.
But molting does not cause bold patches! If you see any bold patches, your parrot isn’t molting but he’s feather plucking. It is best to visit your vet if you suspect your parrot to feather pluck for a further advice.
My mum thinks I molt mainly in the early spring and then I molt a bit more in the autumn. I can get grumpy too so my body language observations can save mum a few nips. Other times I’m extra cuddly. Mum also always showers me a lot more during my molting times to help me feel comfortable too.
What about you my friends? When do you molt and how does your human help you? Please share with me, it will help others.
