HAPPY HOMECOMING Weekend Mother Tuskegee 💛🐯❤️!!

I made this charm bracelet some time ago with some leather scraps…but with homecoming season approaching I couldn’t help but pay homage to my Mother Tuskegee!

Both the leather and acrylic charms were cut on the the charms were hand painted and put together with absolute LOVE.

Autumn is officially here 🍁! The season of the harvest, when we reap all that was planted in the spring.

It is the time to gather nature’s bounty, the fruits and vegetables, the grains, nuts, and seeds… and of course…the FLOWERS!

We gather everything with gratitude; we collect and preserve everything with care for the coming winter months.

The colors of summer will soon change to brilliant hues of fall all around us. The sky will be at its bluest against the beautiful changing leaves. The air will become cooler and crisp.

As we enjoy the changing of seasons-take care to still take time to notice the wonder of the nature surrounding you

The Robots have returned…because… S.T.E.A.M!

This time one of my robot friends is in the form of dangle earrings! 🤖

The prototype still needs some work…

Perhaps a bit more research 👩🏾‍🏫 and testing of parts👩🏾‍🔬, trying different paints👩🏾‍🎨, designing different parts👩🏾‍💻, etc. The great news is that I am the engineer👷🏾‍♀️and I will happily wear the prototypes until I am happy with the final design👩🏾‍🎤

Last year around this time … I was participating in Science Week (hosted by the lovely which celebrated everything Scientific from animals to engineers!)

So it was no surprise that around the same time as last year I was in the process of kreating and adding many items to the shop influenced by S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math).

I am personally still in denial that summer is coming to a close, but still grateful for the sunshine and warmth.

Every month me and have a small “creative challenge” to help inspire our work and expand our skill sets.
August’s theme was….”Back to School”! I decided to try some “school-themed” earrings and practice my engraving skills on some pencils!

I imagine these gnomes are headed back to school and are fully prepared with all of their magical school gear ✨

I am still playing around with engraving pencils BUT it was fun to try out some techniques for our creative challenge this month!!

More MerFolk Have ARRIVED to FolksLore!

Stories of the SeaFolk have been told around the world since the beginning of time.

The seas and oceans are still in many ways unknown/unexplored as we do not fully know what all lies beneath the waters surface✨.
The unknown has influenced the ideology behind the Magical and Mysterious tales of the aquatic worlds below. These imagined worlds have always captivated people’s imaginations (especially mine)!

The following excerpt from “The Mermaid's Home” (from The fairy tales of science by John C. Brough) has always made me daydream about what the that world could look like 🧜🏾‍♀️🌊🧜🏾🌊🧜🏾‍♂️

“The merfolks’ home is beneath the waves, but we must not suppose that it is situated at an unfathomable depth in the ocean. Too far…too fond of life and light to reside in a region beyond the reach of the genial influence of the sunbeam. Depend upon it, they have selected some quiet bay, guarded by impassable rocks, for their habitation—a bay whose waters are not too deep nor yet too shallow.
Here is just such a bay as a merfolk might choose as a safe abode. Look how snugly the rocks shut it in on either side: a sea-nymph might pass their days here without fear of intrusion. I consider myself so very fortunate to have had so many Amazing Souls in my life. Souls no longer on this earth whose memories I will carry with me and remember Always ❤️!

The most random quote from has stuck with me the most these days and helps when I feel a bit down about those that I have cherished and lost…

“But what is grief if not love persevering?” ❤️

Grief is often seen as a negative emotion, however, I try to remind myself…the only reason why I feel this intense emotion… is because of the immense LOVE I feel for that soul that was lost. Grief is actually a reminder that we loved once, we will love again, and that love will remain within us always.

When I was young
I absolutely LOVED Dandelions. They would pop up everywhere in the yard in early spring and were the first signs of summer!

I would pick bundles of them and put them in a vase for my Mother, I would use the bright yellow pollen as blush for my cheeks, and I would pick the delicate flowers and stems to make flower crowns and bracelets!

When the seedlings formed I remember running through the yard as fast as I could spreading the seeds everywhere making wishes with each blow!

At some point in my life, someone told me my precious dandelion was an ugly w**d that needed to be controlled. My
impressionable young heart was broken.

For a good chunk of my life…my opinion changed of my once beloved flower-“what a persistent little w**d, why do they ruin the look of a perfect green yard” these intrusive thoughts slowly changed as I grew into adulthood…how could I allow someone’s opinion of something I LOVED…alter my thoughts?!

I am now 100% comfortable with my Unpopular Opinion..I LOVE DANDELIONS!

I remember writing down the featured books in my every single time I watched!

The show definitely inspired my LOVE of reading and finding good books. Now it also inspires me to make fun items for the shop ❤️!!

I have a very special place in my heart for Vintage book covers…the detailing often being so intricate…I could stare at their beauty all day🤩📚💜.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Botanical Folktales (of Britain and Ireland)! Sooooo many interesting stories have inspired new Kreations to be added to FolksLore ✨

One of my favorite items are these delicate engraved Plant Print Dangle Earrings.
The flat natural stone beads give just the right pop of color to balance the plant imprints.

These earrings remind me of my days in elementary school collecting leaves and using crayons on paper to make leaf prints

I love the water, if I could be one magical creature…I would most definitely be a mermaid!

This first picture was taken by accident…as I had not moved around the lighting yet 🤭!

After staring at it for some time, and noticing the way the light shimmers down on all of the mermaids…my imagination soared
🤔💭🌊🧜🏾‍♀️☀️…

What if all of FolksLore’s Mermaids gathered together at the bottom of the ocean. I imagine them all swimming around in the sand and kelp, enjoying life, and relishing in each others company.

All of a sudden the sun peeks through the clouds and hits the oceans waves just perfectly revealing what hides in the ocean below.

As the sun shines down to the bottom of the ocean floor a magical scene is revealed.

All of the mermaids gather, just for a brief moment, to bask in the warmth that shines through the waves ☀️.

Lightning Bugs…Fireflies…Glow Fairies…
Whatever you may call them, they were a staple of my summer experiences.
Does anyone else feel nostalgic when seeing them at night?!?!

I fondly remember catching them in jars on my grandparents front lawn, giggling as they would crawl on my hands and arms.
As sat and watched the Glow Fairies last night I was reminded of how magical nature can be~if you just take a moment to be still and notice.
