❤️Let’s win this for Joe!!!❤️

The Tax Office is an important part of this community. Taxes pay for a lot of our programs such as the library, police department, parks, etc. We have a very high collection rate in Moon Township, even during the pandemic,

Senior Citizens on a fixed budget that want to remain in Moon do not need tax hikes. Unlike the school board, who have raised taxes, we have not raised taxes in a decade. Our current team of Moon Township Supervisors work together in a bi-partisan way to keep your taxes where they are so please re-elect BACHMAN AND BROSS!

The MCA-TV is an integral part of this community, some political opponents want to defund this local service. We promise to continue to fund MCA-TV as well as ALL of Moon Township’s Departments.

Moon Community Access Television is the public, educational and government access television station owned and operated by the Township of Moon. Moon Township is one of the few Western Pennsylvania municipalities to give township residents the opportunity to produce original television programs.

For more than 30 years, MCA-TV has aired locally-produced programming designed to keep Moon Township residents tuned in to their community. In turn, Moon Township residents also play an active part in MCA-TV’s programming lineup.

Trick or Treat TONIGHT in Moon Township

Moon Township Trick or Treat will be TONIGHT from 6-7:30 PM. Halloween is a festive and fun time of the year for kids, but it can be a little tricky for parents. Here are some safety tips to be sure it’s a treat for everyone.

👻 Make sure your child’s costume fits properly and that they can see clearly.
💄 Apply makeup instead of wearing a mask. 👺Masks can be hot and uncomfortable, and they can obstruct a child’s vision.
🥷🏻Be sure the costume is visible at night. If a costume is dark in color, add some reflective tape on the front and back.
👩🏾‍🚒Purchase a costume that is flame retardant.
🦸‍♂️Arrange for an adult or responsible teenager to accompany younger children when Trick or Treating.
🏚Make sure kids never approach an unlit house, or enter a house of people you don’t know very well.
🔦 Carry a flashlight.
🚘 Be aware of traffic.
🚔Use sidewalks when possible. If there are no sidewalks, walk on the left side of the street-facing oncoming traffic.
🛻Do not accept rides from anyone but a family member.
🍬 Instruct all trick-or-treaters not to sample treats until they are home and the treats have been examined by an adult.
🍭 Inspect treats at home in a well-lit area and throw away anything opened, partially unwrapped, or not in its original wrapper.
🚔Call the police if you find any suspicious treats.

COMMON QUESTION: “I received a mail-in ballot application in the mail but never requested one. What should I do?”

Many voters have been surprised to find mail-in ballot applications in their mailboxes this election cycle even though they never requested them. In a year when election security is at the forefront, some may find these unsolicited forms unnerving or suspicious.

Unlike some states, Pennsylvania does not send out unsolicited mail-in ballots or ballot applications to voters. Normally, anyone who wants to vote by mail needs to apply online, download the application and mail it in or go to their local elections office and pick up the form. Online voter applications can be found at www.votespa.com.

As an added precaution, residents can contact their local election office if they receive a mail-in ballot they didn’t request or receive a mail-in ballot application sent to someone who no longer lives at that address.

To report a ballot that came to you accidentally or isn’t meant for you or anyone in your household, please contact your County Election Officials. You can also contact your County Elections Officials for questions related to your polling place, when or where an election will be held and other election related information.

It’s budget season in Moon Township and the Supervisors are busy working on it. Department heads will bring their wishlist to the budget meeting. Supervisors will try to give as much as they can to each department. We have had to make a lot of cuts and these were difficult but we cannot fund everything. One budget we did not have to cut was the Library, because they did not make any requests. It is a tough job managing the township’s budget, but Bachman snd Bross are experienced to see things from all angles before making a decision. Watch this video to find out more.

If it seems like you have been temporarily inconvenienced by what seems like a lot of paving work in the Township, you are correct. The Moon Township bids our asphalt paving work in conjunction with several other Townships. This allows us to get better prices on asphalt. They also make sure to include in the bidding documents a lot of optional add on paving requests. This year, the paving costs came in below what we expected, so they exercised a lot of the optional add on paving work and actually paved more than expected…. FIFTEEN MILES MORE! As experts expect the price of asphalt to rise considerably in upcoming years, the Supervisors felt it prudent to pave as much as possible now at the lower rate. This is the type of thinking that both Allan and David bring to their roles as supervisors. They are proud to serve!

Moon Township Supervisors are responsible for managing the township’s budget. They fund 50% of the library’s budget. However, the budget encompasses more than just the library. Take a look back at previous posts to see some of the other work that this team has done in our township. Bachman and Bross believe in looking at the bigger picture and spend countless hours with their team of Supervisors to make all of Moon Township a great place to live, work and play.

The Thorn Run Interchange (Robert E. Harper Interchange) improvement project in Moon was a $9.4 million project including ramp construction, widening, traffic signal installation, drainage improvements, guide rail upgrades, curb and sidewalk repairs, and structure work at the interchange near Coraopolis Heights Road, Thorn Run Road Extension, and Cherrington Parkway. Moon Township Supervisors worked with MTA and PennDOT so this project could help motorists more efficiently and safely utilize 376 to and from Moon.

26/10/2021

Moon Township was the only community in the area to open for the Fourth of July celebration. Bachman and Bross worked to get the fireworks set up at RMU to meet Covid-19 regulations.

25/10/2021

Valerie Gaydos (and her dog, Tessa) took part in awarding Moon Township Moon Parks and Recreation a check for $81,267 from the Gaming and Economic Development Fund (GEDF) towards the construction of a community dog park in February 2020.
