Really impressed with the new GMK87. They took what made the GMK67 good and improved in a number of places. There is a new 67 and 84 also in this range now :)

I put the Minila back onto DSA as the sculpted caps with flat deck does not play nice for typing experience. This board has come up really nice, feels and looks classy and has a great typing feel.

Finally a Monsgeek M1 with Leobog Graywood V3 and Cherry Doubleshot PBT. If you get an M1 you need to force break the case or it really pings. Once that is done it gives a nice sound.

This has the bottom case foam replaced with silicon sheet and 3 layer tape mod for the board.

Rebuild of the YMDK Minila with JWick Mauve and XVX PBT caps. The caps did not stay on as sculpted on a flat deck just feels wrong so it is now back on the DSA set.

The Mauve do not feel good at all stock and they ping so so bad. But l**ed in 205g0 and they are transformed, so smooth and deep sounding. Really nice to type on, similar to a G*t Milky Yellow for weight

This is an interesting build. Built around the YMDK Minila layout pcb, hotswap version. QMK support.

Wood box with Alu plate and silicon sheet added to case as only damping. Box White V2 and DSA profile PBT Dye Sub caps.

Unique layout and flat makes it feel more like a laptop deck that a normal keyboard but works well.

The person who took the red GMK67 wanted Milky Yellow instead of the Box White, so this is a rebuild of the White after it was plundered for its switches. This is now on Leobog Greywood V3, a short throw long pole switch.

Never been a fan of clicky until I encountered the Kailh Clickbar based switches. Second build using Kailh Switches, this time around the Box White version.

Really nice switch to use and the GMK67 is muted enough that you can use this board in an office and you will not have people shouting at you or reaching for ear defenders :)

Build of a GMMK Full Size. Forgot how loud these board can be. Had to knock the mic gain down to stop it clipping :)

Ripped the default G*t Browns and replaced with some Holy Panda clones and covered with a nice Dye Sub set of OEM PBT caps.

Tripple layer tape mod and also some tape on the case internals to tune down case sound somewhat. Still might not be a board you use in an office environment :)

Sound test for my home daily drive board.

An Akko ACR Top 75 with brass plate. Holy Panda clones with the base and spring l**ed in 205g0 and a set of WOB Cherry Doubleshot PBT caps.

Took a bit of work to get this one tuned down into a sound that it great to type on. L**ed the switch base and spring in 205g0, not the meta for tacile but I find that just the base rails, then around the stem hole and in with 205g0 and same on the springs mean you lose none of the feel and pitches the switch down a bit sound wise. Even with that I still needed triple layer of tape on the board otherwise the sound was just too harsh.

A quick sound test on a selection of Linear switches that I had on hand. This was done to show the difference in switch sounds.

Obviously the board and other parts used in the board also effect the final sound but this gives some indication on how switch selection can effect the final sound of the board.

G*teron Milky Yellow Pro used as the baseline they are all compared against and common baseline switch.

The winning switch for deepest sound, Bulbasar, has PC housing which tunes the sound down. I would go with the JWK Tangerine though as think it is the better switch in the end if you want a nice deeper sounding switch.

Another CIY Tester84 build out. G*teron Milky Yellow Pro l**ed with 205g0 and white Pudding PBT Caps.

This one proved much harder to tame and get a good sound out of than the last one. I think the factory l**e on this batch of switches was inconsistent and made the alphas on the board sound inconsistent. The pudding caps make the board more clacky which highlighted the issue more.

Ended up taping the board and lubing the switches before the sound improved. The spacebar has poron added to tone down and give nice deep sound.

Real interesting switches, half way between say Milky Yellow and Speed Silver switches. Loud like other longpole but can take it in this case.

I think silent work far better in this sort of build with PC plate and gasket to take help reduce the strange bounce you get at the endstop with silents.
