About PNI
PNI aka psychoneuroimmunology is the way your thoughts and emotions affect your immune system. By carrying toxic emotional baggage you increase your chances of getting sick. Dump your rubbish and make achievable goals to work towards.
Dreams
Start a dream journal. A lot of emotional processing happens when we're asleep and we can get valuable insights into our lives by recording our dreams
Prayer
Regularly say a prayer for yourself and the people you care about in your life. It can be a Christian prayer or a Buddhist prayer or a New Age prayer or just a prayer
Unconditional love
Develop a sense of unconditional love for yourself and the world around you
Gratitude
Start a gratitude journal. Each day write five things you are grateful for in your life
Technique fifteen: Meditation, yoga, diet and habits
If they aren't already on your list of goals, make meditation, yoga, dietary concerns and habit change a priority in your life. You'd be surprised by the health benefits.
Technique fourteen: Circle of Excellence
Standing in an empty space draw a circle in your mind on the floor in front of you.
Recall a memory when you were happy or excited and as your body starts to feel happy etc. step into the circle say "Yes!" and anchor with a fist or clap.
Technique thirteen: Passion for life
1. Imagine you are 10 years into the future. Write a letter to your younger self about how life has changed and how you got to where you are now
2. Make a list of all your goals and for each goal make an action plan for achieving it
Technique twelve: Spiritual Contracts
"Pen, paper, You write your Contract."
Examples:
"I am loveable"
"I am trustworthy"
"I have strength"
Once you've found your Birth or Spiritual Contract write a few pages about what knowing your Contract means for you and your life
Technique eleven: Innerchild work
With the guidance of your therapist go through an innerchild visualisation
Technique ten: Anger release
Identify people in your life who you have anger towards (even if they've passed on)
With the safety of your therapist go through an anger release process
Technique nine: Eulogy
Imagine you were going to speak at your own funeral. Write your own eulogy and read it out loud to your therapist.
What was your greatest achievement?
What were you most afraid of doing?
What did you wish you had done more of?
etc.
Technique eight: Unfinished business
Write letters to loved ones, abusers, God, deceased parents, spouse and so forth. Do NOT send the letters, destroy them after you've finished the process.
Get a living will written up. Get all your affairs in order.
Technique seven: Overcoming fears
Identify a fear. For each fear ask yourself the question "What if?"
Mentally put yourself in the worst-case scenario for that fear
Identify the practical steps you would take in that situation. Go through them until you no longer feel the fear
Technique six: Who am I?
Get honest with yourself and ask the question "Who am I?"
You're not your body
You're not your name
You're not your university degree
Who are you?
Technique five: Shadows or Dragons
Identify your dominant coping styles from the following:
Arrogant
Unworthy
Stubborn
Given-up
Impatient
Martyr
Greed
Self-destruct
Work with your therapist to identify how your individual coping styles are sabotaging your life or True Self.
Technique four: "So what!"
Say to yourself "So what!"
e.g. "I'm fat" - "So what!"
"I didn't score 100%" - "So what!"
"I'm slow at maths" - "So what!"
We all need to be more accepting of ourselves warts and all
Technique three: BIG Truth vs. small truth
BIG Truth is reality as it is. The so called Greater Universe or matter-of-fact reality which affects everyone equally
small truth is your unique or individual perceptions of reality, your beliefs and so forth
Technique two: Stop-Look-Correct-Act
Stop what you're doing
Look at the problem "from the outside"
Correct your choices or plan
And most importantly ACT on the new plan
Technique One: Agreements
If you make an agreement stick to your agreement
If you can't keep to an agreement do damage control: renegotiate with a new agreement you can keep.
You don't have to be ill to make the changes you need to make. Anyone and everyone can benefit from the real life tools and techniques of PNI aka PNI Empowerment
I'll be stepping you through the basics in the next few posts
