Know the charioteer of your life journey
The most inert part of us is the body.there is no motive force to the body by itself .only because of the प्राणा the body gets activated. This is the reason for a person who is so found of halwa unable to open his/her eyes wide after he/she is dead When a cup of oven fresh halwa is brought in front of him/her. The indriyas are better than body. This is because our Indriyas can travel far and and wide and reach places. For example, in a split moment the indriyas can take us to a beautiful tourist spot in the US.
The manas is truly a super indriya, as it can do all the functions of the indriyas when none of them are at work. Otherwise, how can we explain watching vividly our favourite movie in dream or taking our son to a cricket match in a dream. The buddhi is considered superior to the manas as it has the capablity to analyse and decide what is right and what is wrong. The manas can only deploy instructions to the indriyas and the body. It is poor in deciding what is right and what is wrong. This is the reason for the कथा उपनिषद teaching, know the buddhi to be the charioteer of our life.

Navaratri – Day 1
Hari Om.
Happy Navaratri to all.
Navaratri is a grand festival of worship of Bhagavati. Devi is worshipped as Sarasvati, Mahalakshmi, Durga and Lalita-tripurasundari on all days.
She also has a special form and name on each day. Today on the first day (प्रतिपदा) she is worshipped as शैलपुत्री (Shailaputri) – the daughter of Himalaya. Devi in this form is depicted to be seated on Nandi with a lotus in her left hand and a trishula in the other. She personifies strength, courage and composure.
Today is also the day of घटस्थापना (Ghatasthapana), which marks the beginning of Shaaradeeya Navaratri. Ghatasthapana literally means 'establishing a pot'. A Kalasha (holy water pot), symbolising Goddess Durga is established on the first day and is worshipped during the nine days.
In Vedanta, साधन-चतुष्टय (the four-fold qualification) gives the necessary qualities that a seeker must imbibe to walk the spiritual path. They are विवेक, वैराग्य, शमादि-षट्-सम्पत् and मुमुक्षुत्व. In the coming days of Navaratri, we shall see each one of these qualities in essence.
