An older Morton cousin has given me two family history books. There is a lot of Gaston history dating back to the first Gaston’s in America and their Revolutionary War involvement. I am in the DAR on William Gaston.
The books were compiled by Nellis Parkinson who was a scholar, genealogist, and teacher at SIU. He has included several letters written to ancestors to verify data.
I believe they were written in 1926 because some of my Morton uncles/aunts aren’t listed. It covers a lot of families in the district in early years and how they are intertwined. The second book is similar and duplicates most information but in legal paper format, I think it was written first.
I’m going to take these to a local print shop for copies. I’ll add the cost of each in the comments when I have an idea of the number to get printed. Let me know if you want one or both.
