Here's a book I've been reading and think you should too! Share a book you've read recently in the comments
When I graduated high school I walked on to Texas Tech to try and play football. One of the coaches said I was basically a shoe-in, but needed to go through the walk-on process just as a matter of formality. A few months later, I got to the try out and found out that the coach was no longer there. I found out a few days later that I didn't make the team. Growing up in a small school I never had a major amount of disappointment in very many things, I was a big fish in a small pond. This is much the same as business. Often times people find that you can become a big deal to a tiny subset of people in their industry. But when you try new things, like opening a new location, or going into a different industry, you're not as talented as you thought you were. But that's ok. You'll never be satisfied if all you do is stay comfortable and constantly win in your little bubble. Even if you put yourself out there, try something, and fail- it's much more satisfying knowing you tried your best. If nothing else, it will minimize regret in your life!
One way to create a great retail experience? Host your customers! Bring them together with fun events and let them weigh in on what that even looks like. Knowing the needs of your customers and creating a fun space for them can go a long way.

Does it terrify you when people talk bad about your marketing? I have advice for you--
BE YOURSELF! Always put your business's marketing into the light that you want to be seen in. Itâs ok to be polarizing! People will disagree with you all the time about opinions, quality of products, and doing certain things certain ways! You want the people who donât agree with products or opinions to be polarized from you AND LEAVE! Trying to be vanilla is detrimental. If talking about your love for high quality products turns away cheap budget shoppers, then thatâs great, they werenât going to be your customers anyways. If talking about finding a good deal and saving money on a product turns away a wealthy customer who would never buy from you, then awesome! Think of it this way- would you want Hi**er to hate you? Of course! You would want him to know that you two donât have anything you agree on and that you donât want to talk to him!
Be more polarizing in your videos. Be authentic, and be yourself!
Paying later is an option more and more retail stores are allowing customers to utilize! My opinion? It can be a slippery slope.
What are your thoughts? Do you allow your customers to do either of these? Letâs discuss!
Do statistics show that video is the king choice among all other options? Chris Fox from Fox Strategy Marketing co-hosts on this episode of the Better Business Podcast to debate this question. Listen to the whole episode now: stevendcook.com/better-business-podcast
