We have entered into a new partnership with Tricuro, which provides care support for Dorset Council and BCP Council, to reach more vulnerable people with potentially life-saving fire safety advice.
The social care landscape is changing, and a greater percentage of the population is now aged over 65, and more likely to be in receipt of some form of health and social care. As such, they can be at greater risk of serious injury or death from fire – and our own experience is that people living alone with care support can be extremely vulnerable to the dangers of fire.
More about the partnership can be found here - http://ow.ly/vvgo50Fq71M

Fireplay and firesetting can sometimes be used by children and young people as a way of expressing their emotions when their mental health and well-being is in need of support.
Signs of fireplay or firesetting include:
• showing a great interest in fire?
• starting fires, large or small?
• showing evidence of burning items, for example in their bedroom or outside?

Our Safe and Well Team Leader for Research and Partnerships has been working with partners to safely promote our Safe and Well Visits to those people aged over 65+ who are returning for a second vaccination at centres across Dorset, Wiltshire and Swindon.
Within the first week of the vaccination centres promoting our Safe and Well visits we received over 60 referrals to vulnerable and elderly people which is a great start.
By reaching these groups of people coming through vaccination centres we can help them live a safer, healthier, and more independent life as well as reducing the risks of them having a fire.
If you know someone who would benefit from a Safe and Well visit, you can make a referral on our website using the following link.
