A mom, an ex-banker, a blogger, a poet, an artist, a nature lover and an optimist realist.
Woke up to this beautiful message on Sunday morning, from a classmate on my college whatsapp group of 60-odd members. Needless to say, I am delighted. I couldn't wait for the Amazon,Goodreads reviews to share it.
'Smitha, I just finished reading your book. It took me a while to get my hands on a copy, but I'm so glad I did! I loved it! I started reading your book right after lunch yesterday and finished it while having breakfast the next morning!
It's a Kerala love story !'
Thank you, Minnu Jacob , for sharing this with me.
I managed to read 25 books last year and write reviews for all of them.
The authors I read were a mix of famous and new authors/ poets.
I intend doing the same this year. But, this year I hope to read at-least 50 books and write reviews for them.
Reading opens your mind and makes you appreciate life more. It shows you the beauty of the world in ways you hadn't seen before. And writing a review helps you improve your writing, put your thoughts into perspective and do your bit for the author.
Beginning on the right note, I'm starting by keeping away from people and experiences that leave me feeling drained rather than energized.
Life is too precious to waste time. And energy is limited. So expend it wisely doing things that help replenish it, make you feel happier, be better, and make you want to pass it on.
Have a blessed 2024!
When a reader shares a review like this, you are rendered speechless. 's post on Fb did exactly that for me. Read it, and you'll know why. I'm touched, humbled and overwhelmed. It marks a beautiful beginning to 2024
This New Year, that we are fortunate to wake up to, I wish
We seize every opportunity that lightens our heart and makes us smile.
We are the reason for a loved one's smile and a stranger's gratitude.
We value each moment bestowed upon us and not swipe it away.
We are more understanding, more compassionate, more empathetic and more forgiving towards ourselves and others.
We stand up for what we believe in, have the courage to express our opinions and the maturity to listen to that of others, too, without resorting to violence.
And that we live each day to the fullest knowing life is far too precious and we are blessed to be here.
I wish each one of you a blessed, peaceful and joyous 2024. Thank you for being part of my 2023, in letter and spirit. It's been a year of many firsts of me and I am grateful for all the support you'll have given me.
Happy 2024 to all my readers!

In 2 days, this year will come to an end. Like I do every year, I decided to look back at 2023. This is my first post in a three-part series.
EúnoiaMy 2023: Part1-Books, Art and Travel It’s that time of the year when you look back and take stock of the year gone and make plans for the coming year. Did I say plans? Oops! I’m not making any plans. Because, 2023 taught m…
What does a debut, indie author do? Wake up in the morning, check Amazon.in, Amazon.com, Goodreads for a review. Then do the same thing in the evening. So, I did exactly this, last evening, after returning from a friend's wedding and I did again this morning. When I saw the count of reviews increase, my heart flipped. 'Coming Home' received 2 reviews- one from the UK and the other from India.
I'm sharing this with you to tell you how much a review means to an author. If it sounds desperate, it can be sometimes.
So, if you have an author friend and they haven't asked you personally, it does not mean they don't care about what you think of their book. They do. They don't want to pressurize or offend you and that's why they're not asking. But, trust me, they want to know. I want to know. So, please share your thoughts on 'Coming Home' if you've read it.
And if you haven't as yet, maybe these reviews will make you want to pick up the book. The book is available on Amazon, Flipkart and Notion Press websites.
I've resolved to read more books in 2024. But, I decided not to wait until January 1st to get the ball rolling. So, here's another review of a book I read, a fortnight ago.

Here's my review of Author Gargi Sarkhel Bagchi 's debut book of poetry, 'Two Cents for my Thoughts'
EúnoiaBook Review: Two cents for my thoughts by Gargi Sarkhel Bagchi I am back again with another review. This time it’s of a poetry book released in May 2023. I meant to read it sooner. However, I had to wait until I was back in India as Amazon does not exist…
We did not have internet for two days, because of an issue with the service provider. We did not fret. We simply read.
I finished, 'The Storyteller of Casablanca' by Fiona Valpy, my older one read, 'Then She Was Gone' by Lisa Jewell, and my younger daughter completed 'Thursday Night Murder Club' by Richard Osman.
Books honestly are a man's best friend. Such wonderful, dependable company.
Reviews are what writers need and what better than a 5-star review from a reader. Delighted to read this and grateful for readers who take the time to share a review.
It's been ages since I shared a review. So, here I am with a review of Three-Penny Memories, a poetic memoir by Barbara Harris Leonhard

Eight months ago or so, I saw Bookworm open its doors at Shahabuddin Park, and I was excited. I shared its opening on my blog. A blogger said, 'Imagine one day, your book is at the bookstore.' I wished for it, secretly.
Seven months after the publishing of Coming Home, the book is here,

Received this stunning 5-star review on my book 'Coming Home'. It's wonderful to know how the book makes each reader feel differently. I love that this reader found it a meditation on life, for isn't thar what is meant by 'Life must be savored'.
The reader says of the book, 'Her work is a meditation on life. Something about her style invites you to slow down in your own life, and savor not just her words, but these fleeting moments in our own lives.'
With my first set of readers in Dhaka. It makes me happy to finally see the book here.
What's not to like about this review.
Sundeep has described the book as having a 'Charlotte Brontë-ish feel to it' and I am undoubtedly elated.
My poem, 'The olive branch is burning' has been published by Masticadores USA. Thank you, Barbara, for believing in the poem.
