Starting the year with Roses! Or maybe perhaps we could reset 2022 on February 1 ? π
I haven't posted for months and I miss painting regularly.
May this be the beginning of many paintings I will create for 2022!
Dahlia
My first project from Patreon class (swipe for photo reference)
Painting dahlias as botanical illustration is such a challenge and Lynn taught soo well that I discovered a new technique π
I used the professional watercolors equivalent for the Holbein Lynn was using.

I have fond memories of these flowers. Our house used to have a lot of these in different varieries nailed in cut tree trunks. No corsage? No problem! We got an instant corsage right from our garden. But the most tedious part is me coming home from school and water these plants every single day --- and miss my anime time. I was just a kid you know (priorities) π
But now, I wish we still had these at home. Mom gave them away because she could not maintain them on her own. Maybe now that she actually has time - retired and with lockdown she might revive these back π
Post Valentine's -but then we should love everyday. Choose love β€

Took me weeks to finish this as I was stalling on the human subject. I managed to paint this but he was years younger π but as they say, " practice makes progress"
Pink Roses for Gratitude
Amidst the pandemic, I am still grateful to Our Father for taking care of me and my family. A step back to the hustle bustle was indeed what I needed and realize what mattered most --living on the essentials, being kind, generous and spending time with your loved ones.
If I were to paint a portrait -- it would just be suitable for a pediatrician like me to do an infant portrait -- all thanks to for her using child photos as reference.
It was a daunting experience - if I didn't like the sketch I would lay it off for a few days then sketch again. And when I started painting it - I started with the lightest wash and wait a day before I start on a new layer.
In the end, it is fulfilling for me to see the result. I overcame my fear and hopefully my future portraits will be done in a shorted period π
Grateful for 2020. Looking forward to 2021 -- I declare this my "No procrastination" Year especially in creating art and in my faith journey.
Thank you to everyone who supported me and friens I met throught this platform.
"Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way!"
One of the first Christmas song I learned as a kid and a staple in every caroling. I used to remember when my mom finally allowed me to go caroling with my childhood friends. Instead of tambourines - we used "tansan" or "pitcha" (bottle caps) hammered flat and placed a hole in the middle and hook it in a wire like bracelets or hammered in a block of wood. Those were good memories π
Thanks
For your skillshare class on christmas floral silhouettes and decided to use that for the bells.

Was alive as he could be,
And the children say he could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me."
For someone who never experienced snow - I love this character but felt sad when I saw this cartoon where he just melted when winter was over βΉ

I have to admit -- this is one of my favorite flowers but to paint them - the fully bloomed ones is still a challenge for me. This is my 3rd attempt - painted loosely.

Purply (is this even a word) galaxy sky
I followed IG live on how she layers her galaxies and I finally grasp the idea how -- not to use the came color when layering the galaxies. Thanks for this! Now I am having so much fun doing this!
