Christopher Nolan Pleads for Nation to Save Movie Theaters 11/05/2020

Christopher Nolan is a leading light for our industry. When history is written regarding the industry crisis in 2020, it may well speak of the turning point in July 2020 when Nolan's "Tenet" is scheduled to open globally. If there was ever a comeback moment that the industry is now looking towards, it is the hope that cinemas will progressively re-open by July and there are enough screens globally to support the release of this highly anticipated title.

Texas Movie Theaters Reopen With Health, Temperature Checks 02/05/2020

With the overwhelming majority of the world's cinemas closed, including all the major circuits in the USA, you can definitely say that the world is watching with intense interest - including ourselves, on the other side of the world. It is a credit to these cinemas that they have really thought through procedures to maximize safety in their premises. Here's hoping that customers do come back and everyone stays safe at the movies.

As CEO of TGV, it’s been painful to watch the industry struggle as our country grapples with the Covid-19 crisis. What has been the most joyous social activity engendering true escapism and imagination is now viewed with some skepticism and caution. Is it safe to go to the cinemas anymore?

The reality is there is risk in all spheres of public life now that the Covid-19 pandemic has gained steam. As such, I applaud the government's move to take bold decisive action in an attempt to blunt the progress of this virus. All Malaysians are behind the government as we 'lock down' and address the crisis head on.

It is often said that every crisis represents an opportunity. We will use this crisis to reset and strengthen our commitment to being a safe entertainment destination. Plans are in place to introduce our version of Social Distance Seating (SDS), hand sanitizers will be readily available in our premises, temperature checks will be conducted on both staff and patrons for everyone's safety, and we’ll be scheduling extra time between movie sessions for more rigorous cleaning.

Most importantly we are emphasizing awareness and education internally and to the public through our Public Service Announcements, Physical Signs and Digital Display Boards. All of this and more as and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to experience the magic of the movies soon.
