Some more images of the embroidered dress and veil from my project “the Obliging Bride”. The work takes a critical look at Bridal culture and how it can influence decisions surrounding marriage and marital life. In a time of progressive societal change, the work aims to initiate conversations about the seemingly outdated façade of a white wedding. Weddings are rich in age-old superstitions and traditions with forgotten origins, bringing with them debates about religion, gender, class, and taste.

The rewrite

Finished freehand embroidered panels with hand embroidered french knots detailing, now ready to be made into a pair of curtains! These two 1.4 x 1.8m panels are going to be the start of the Sandbourne collection, inspired by the beauty of an British garden, working in partnership with Susanna Thomas Interiors. Can’t wait to see how these look when finished!

Final set of the single mounted bugs from my Metamorphic Hinterland collection up now on my website! These were all done freehand on an Irish machine and are part of a limited series with each piece being completely unique

Coming to the end of Christmas so I thought that I’d share with you this pair of stockings that I made that got gifted to someone’s parents this year, definitely want to make more of these in the future

The moth embroidery on this cushion sits nicely against the velvety patterned fabric
