One of his favourite activities : Drawing/ Doodling/ Scribbling

He would spend hours doodling and scribbling. He tries to draw whatever he sees in his surroundings.
Without limitations, he accesses his vivid imaginations while drawing. There's often a story behind his drawings. And, I always encourage him to talk about it without any hesitation and fear.

is a way for kids to relieve tension and take random thoughts and solidify them into a purposeful whole.
Through drawing, kids can tell stories, gain emotional health, and learn a multitude of skills that serve them well for the rest of their lives!

Yet another educational device. This one is from Playmat. He is totally loving it. The interesting part of it is that it contains quizzes.

Photos from World of Adhiraj's post 19/05/2023

This educational device from at an affordable price has proved to be one of the best educational devices I have ever bought for my son until now.
It comes with more than 200 double-sided educational cards and a cute card reader and my son is in love with the whole thing.
Thanks again to "The Bow Jar".
This educational device is more of a substitute of mine when I am busy cooking or busy with some household chores.

Revision time : SPICES

It was a multi-sensory learning. A multi-sensory learning experience ensures providing a learner with more than one of their senses when taking in new information. This learning style encourages children to engage in auditory, visual, kinaesthetic, and tactile activities. Gustatory, olfactory, proprioceptive, and vestibular senses are also included.

I encouraged my child to learn more about Spices using Visual, Tactile, Olfactory, and Gustatory learning modes.

Late-night Activity 🤪🥴 : Animal Goof-up from Clever Cubes

A very hilarious game where a very hilarious set of 12 flashcards of 2 to 3 animals fusing into a whole, thus forming an unusually funny animal.

How was it played?
One by one, each flashcard was placed in front in front of him and he had to guess which animals are fused into one. The hangover of playing the game persisted for a very long time. ☺️☺️☺️

Benefits :
1. Improves concentration;
2. Enhances attention span;
3. Fun way of learning about animals;
4. Recognition of animals; and,
5. Distinguish among animals better.

Activity : Trace the pattern - A pre-writing skill activity
Resource : (Instagram)
[Brain Waves]

Pre-writing skills are the fundamental fine motor skills that children need to develop before they begin to write. Pre-writing skills help your child build finger strength, eye hand coordination, wrist movement and grip strength. These will in turn help children to gradually hold and use a pencil or any writing tool to draw, write, colour and in general, express themselves.
Pre-writing skills are essential for the child to be able to develop the ability to hold and move a pencil easily and write in a legible manner.
Writing legibly requires well-developed fine motor skills, which improve the ability to control small precise movements with the fingers, wrists and hands. Tracing shapes and patterns, joining the dots, copying lines, drawing and colouring are good pre-writing tasks for your child.
Tracing is a powerful way to practice fine motor control. Toddlers are just starting to enter the emergent writing period, when they begin to understand that writing is another way to express their thoughts. However, they don’t yet have the fine motor strength and control to write letters.
Simple activities, such as tracing lines and shapes, can build strength and coordination between your toddler’s fingers, hands, and wrists. The more he practices, the better he’ll become at grasping his writing utensil and controlling his movements.
When you give your toddler some straight or zig-zagged lines to trace, he’ll learn the beginning steps for writing letters. Tracing can fine-tune your toddler’s drawing and writing skills to provide him with more refined and coordinated movements he’ll need for handwriting.

It's Sunday and let's make it a Fun day. Annnnnndddddd, it's puzzle time. Woohoo.
He is growing as one puzzle enthusiast, I must say. Hehe. Nothing entertains him apart from solving mind-boggling puzzles. The more he succeeds in solving puzzles, the more he craves for new puzzles.
Now, how I wish to be an enigmatologist! 🤪

P.S. Whoever sells puzzles for toddlers, kindly DM.

This is how we have been spending time with each other lately at our new den. 🤪
Ignore the messy background, please.

Loving each and every moment. Time flies. Growing up so fast. And these memories shall remain etched in our heart forever. Every time, we would miss each other, we would recall our best memories and cherish and relive.

Funday Wednesday started with indoor games.

Photos from World of Adhiraj's post 25/01/2023

Almost a no-prep activity.
We were busy playing indoor games when I suddenly thought of this activity. 🤪
I collected a few items, most of them are his toys, put them in a basket, and started showing them to him one by one and was asking him a common question for each item, "Can you sing the song/rhyme related to this object?"
At first, he was baffled but then he got a hang of it. Hehe. Can you sing all the rhymes related to the items? 😉

He loves to scribble, doodle, draw, and colour. And I made a colouring book for him.

I know and I am aware of the fact that colouring books no longer have a place in the classroom, they simply don't add value to the educational process for various reasons. They are not the type of materials a child deserves and needs to learn and grow. I totally support it. The point is, that the colouring books do nothing to promote children's healthy growth or development and, if used to excess, they can actually have a negative effect on children's overall development.

When children have access to crayons, markers, paint, pens, pencils, chalk and lots of blank
paper in all shapes, sizes and textures, then miraculous images start to emerge. Children
become immersed in the process of art - they experiment with the paint on a brush, they try all
kinds of different hand movements with the markers, they experiment with making shapes, they
begin to assign meaning to their drawings and they begin to use drawing and sketching as a
means to communicate. To rob them of these opportunities of discovery and expression is to
deny them the chance to realize their full potential as artists, writers, readers and critical thinkers.
Freedom of expression in art leads to creative expression in other areas as well. It is an essential
foundation for reading, writing, mathematics and scientific reasoning. Fostering creative
expression is an integral component of all high quality early childhood programs.

But, I made the colouring book as per the request of my lo. He asked me to draw a few things that he wanted to colour with different colouring tools. And, in excitement, I drew those randomly in one or two strokes and he coloured them, one with coloured pencils, the other one with wax crayons, next with oil pastels, sketch pens, and coloured pens.

I was in the kitchen when my li'l one was having fun throwing away the pillows, bolsters, and the blankets, all of those on the floor. Yes! I fussed a little bit but I didn't interrupt him at all. I let him play. I was watching him from a distance. Had I have disturbed him, I wouldn't have enjoyed watching the messy play and the absolute fun he was having. So, what did I do next? Lol. I, the crazy mom turned the play into an activity. 😅😅🤪🤪

Activity 1: Obstacle course

Activity 2: Pick up the balls from the nooks and the corners.

Activity 3: Vroom! Vroom! Car riding/ racing on the bumpy roads. 😉

Activity 4: Collect the shells that are scattered here and there, few are buried under the pillows.

Benefits:

1. Improves gross motor skills.
2. Enhances imagination.
3. Fun messy play.
4. Builds concentration power.

"Early-Morning Play" with "Elefuntoi" from "Toiing" ... A fun game of skill and dexterity.
He had to put on the elephant mask and use the trunk on the mask to pick up the rings that are scattered on the bed. He shall not use his hands to pick and pile up the rings on the trunk. Hands should be at the back. "No cheating" 🤪😉
It doesn't necessarily has to be played with a mate. A child can play alone if a timer can be set so as to make the child race against time! ☺️
This game surely improves motor skills.

Aren't kids messy? Hell! Yeah. Should we encourage their messy play? Oh! Yes, as long as they are not harming themselves and/or others. What do they learn from messy play? As they get to explore, they learn so many things that we can hardly fathom. Should we encourage their messy play all the time? As long as it is convenient for you and your child.

"Thrilled and Excited"

Engrossed in playing with a different kind of building blocks, his new favourite.

Benefits:
1. Encourages creativity
2. Enhances motor skills
3. Improves concentration
4. Reduces boredom 🤪

"Things That Move" Flashcards from ... His recent favourite.

Activity 1: Guess the name of the vehicle by hiding the name and showing the image of the vehicle.

Activity 2: Hunt the vehicles - I laid down the cards with their image side up. I asked him to pick up the cards by looking at the images while I will be saying the names of the vehicles randomly.

Benefits:
1. Help children develop meta-recognition by evaluating their own performance based on the number of cards they get right.
2. Encourage independent learning.
3. Help improve recognition and memorization skills.

Let's scribble. Let's doodle. Let's draw lines, curves, and circles. Yippy! I made an art, you see.

A fun-filled art and craft activity that made my child explore his creative mind yet again and express his creativity with passion by creating this surrealist art.

Activity : Brush painting followed by sticker-pasting

P.S. He being very particular about his work, be it any kind of activity tried really hard to create this beautiful piece of art. He couldn't create it in the first place and that's okay. But, he was dissatisfied with his own work and was disappointed too. I consoled him. And encouraged him throughout. I am his biggest fan and all-time cheerleader and I will always be that for all the good work he would engage himself in.
Well, it took 1 hour of practice until he reached that perfection he needed. At the last, his smile says it all. ❤️
And, I am proud of my baby. Not only because he creates beautiful art but because of his determination and dedication and honesty. He, at a very young age has learnt the art of "try hard, work hard until you reach your goal". He taught me not to give up even if you are losing your patience; take a break, regain your patience and concentration level and start over and work hard until you reach your goal. ❤️
