Cath’s back!
Cath Brooke is running another Drypoint Printing workshop here:
Sun 26 June
2.00pm - 5.00pm
https://www.thepeoplepoweredpress.org/workshops-events/drypoint-printing-with-cath-brooke-jun2022
Take home prints you've designed and made yourself.
The workshop will involve making an intaglio drypoint printing plate, using a plastic plate, before exploring different inking methods to create 3 or 4 variations of the same print.
You can work from your own sketches or photographs, or can be inspired by a range of images Cath will provide.
You’ll be introduced to a range of mark making tools and techniques, will learn about printmaking papers suitable for drypoint, and explore different inking methods. And you’ll also create a multi layered collaborative print together as a group and look at examples of drypoint combined with other printmaking techniques.
All workshops arranged by the People Powered Press.
You can do ALL sorts with the four different shapes that make up Brico, the modular letterpress printing system from the People Powered Press.

This workshop will feature exercises, tools and techniques you'll be able to use to support your emotional wellbeing – in the session and beyond.
Led by a facilitator with a ton of knowledge, experience and empathy, you'll learn approaches to reflective and expressive writing; exploring memory, place and past experience; writing as a form of mindfulness; and writing as a form of escapism and play.
Jane Claire Bradley is an award-winning author, therapist and educator who loves empowering people to explore, restore and turbo-boost their creativity, magic and mental health.
Jane writes novels, short stories and performance poetry, mostly about teenagers, trauma, queerness and class, and is the winner of the Northern Debut Award from New Writing North.

Jake – who joined us on our VERY FIRST DAY OPEN YESTERDAY – is a digital marketing freelancer from Saltaire who specialises in PPC (running ads for clients on Google, Facebook, LinkedIn etc). He left his role at an agency in Leeds just before the pandemic to travel the world with his wife and took to freelancing to help fund their travels. Since then Jake has worked with clients around the world helping business owners find new customers through the power of paid media.

Welcome to another of Split's new coworkers: Liz Parker
Liz – joining Split here on a part-time basis from NEXT WEEK! – is a locally-based graphic designer. She started designing in a marketing team 6 years ago, and 3 years ago decided to go out on her own.
She now works with several healthcare technology companies around the world, helping with digital and printed marketing collateral. She absolutely loves illustration and spends a lot of her time creating illustrations for a Yorkshire based e-learning company.
She originally studied Fine Art at Kingston University, which she thinks inevitably influences the way she works. She likes to approach her designs like digital collage and explores this when creating designs for organisations.
She also works on ad-hoc projects with small-medium companies creating logos/branding as well as more bespoke creative commissions for weddings and local businesses. One of her particular favourites was a hand painted mural for La Casita, a tapas restaurant based in Ilkley.
Aside from this, she enjoys practising yoga, claims to spend far too much time with her cat Jack and is always searching for fun creative side projects. Currently she's working on a sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project based at the Brooklyn Art Library, New York.
