Western Maine Land Management
Forestry Mulching - Undergrowth Management - Lot Clearing - Selective Thinning - Site Work - Demolition - Storm Cleanup
BEFORE ------> AFTER on this job in Brunswick. Two years ago my father and I used my grapple to untangle this mess of downed trees, working with two chainsaws and a skid steer. We pushed them all into windrows and piles so the could at least walk the property. Preparing for its sale, we spent three solid days this week with the cimaf drum mulcher and a CAT 308 sorting, mulching and taking care of whatever standing dead wood we could reach. The results speak for itself.
What would you think as a prospective buyer if you saw the site before or after land management?
Clearing storm damage and downed trees isn't cheap, but it adds far more value to a property than it costs to perform, every time.
Before -------> After. This cimaf drum with new teeth rips right through the dead pine on this storm cleanup in Brunswick 💥
Spoils are 95% hauled, base material is in. Rolling and building a basic boulder wall this week before the foundation footer is dug, formed and poured 💥
32x36' garage in Cumberland coming soon 💥💥💥
Arriving back on this food plot in Jay, I was amazed at how well the clients planting had taken to seed once we cleared the understory and mulched standing dead wood last fall. I love seeing what our land clearing sites look like a year or two after we're gone!
This weeks client has been three lovely equine (s?), who hired us to build a great big, dry, solid paddock to get their hooves up and outta the mud. Stripping topsoil and sod, adding 8" of road base and 6" of stone dust, it's elevated and pitched for runoff - easy to maintain with a farm tractor.
The loam and manure mix will be hauled out for some high strength base loam for another clients lawn expansion.
Late night rebuilding the dump truck primary driveshaft after it pretzeled itself under load hauling gravel yesterday. Back to work with it tomorrow 💥
Cutting out some horse paddocks this week - bringing in solid fill on fabric topped in stone dust to keep the clients horses high and dry come winter and mud season.
Pounding out a 350' driveway rough in and a house lot clearing this weekend with my cousin Sam at Walsh Excavation & Land Clearing in Fryeburg!
trusting us with their precious grumpalumpagus barrels headed to storage for aging! If you have any specialty forks/bucket/transport needs, don't hesitate to send us a message!
We are standing by with equipment to clear access, roads and remove downed trees, fix driveways, grade and bring in clean gravel after this storm passes.
Stay safe everyone.
Quick work was made of this yard expansion in Bethel today- birches and pines had grown almost up to the deck of this home. In two days 125x125' was mulched down to keep the growth at distance and give the owners nearly 18,000 ft² of new area to recreate on their property.
If you have property you wish to reclaim, we can help ya out. Send us a DM to schedule a free consultation this winter for all your land clearing needs!
Slowly but surely, this 6x6 high gate dump truck is coming to life this fall!
Quick afternoon job in Northport this week. Just because the name is Western Maine doesn't mean we won't travel for the right job!
Nearly done with this phase for our Auburn client- a few more ledges to clean up and we will be dragging to break up the clumps and he will be spreading seed to get his pasture growing before snowfall.
Back in auburn, taking advantage of the ONLY hot, dry AND sunny week of the entire summer, blading out this pasture we cleared back in July.
Three dirt diggers.
Halfway done with this clearing job in Palermo today- all poplar and beech trees too tight to walk through. The Cimaf drum makes quick work and an incredible finished product. Mulching produces immediate erosion control, so the topsoil remains intact and doesn't wash away.
Beginning day of a five acre site clearing- mulching as much material as possible, popping stumps, burying rocks before bringing in the bulldozer to level the ruts, humps and dips!
Fencing for horse pasture and a new barn/stable are in the works, as well as cutting an access trail from the client's adjacent property up to the clearing, allowing them to stay off the main road.
Slashing trails in Stow.
Accelerating the decomposition process for this landowner in Stow today. No more tripping hazards leading into the woods path we're making down to the river in the back forty.
Its finally dry enough to work in the woods with the forestry mulcher! Today we cleared access into an overgrown tinber tract for some deer feed plots in Jay, giving the owner year round access into his 21 acre parcel.
Getting a 315F from this week certainly has sped up production on our Winthrop jobsite this week- clearing, cutting and building a new parking area for the 50s car hop - originally planned as basic employee parking, we think we know where the Wednesday night car shows are gonna take place!
Do what you love - love what you do.
Transforming this property's view this week for a repeat client has been so rewarding. Yesterday I chose not to send them an updated photo of our work, knowing that they would be arriving this evening and we could surprise them with the transformation. I got a message when they arrived - two words. Holy S**t.
Knowing that we've succeeded at bringing their dream of unbounded views of western Maine to fruition is incredible. Every time they look outside, they're going to enjoy their little piece of Maine just a little bit more.
When the view is priceless 🤠
River's Edge Logging and Land Clearing, LLC and I spent two days cutting a road down into this ravine to hand cut these trees that had been left by the last logging operation in the past, trees which when removed offered an unrestricted view of Peabody Pond in Sebago. One more day of cleanup, blazing another road into the bottom to get the last of it and we'll be all done, just in time for the homeowner to enjoy the view from their new deck and pool! ✔️✔️✔️
Sometimes the trees blocking the views are the hardest to get to. This week we're actually cutting a new access into this deep hillside to harvest these tall ones. Rather than dropping them into the canopy/over the hillside, they'll be yarded out and sold as firewood as well as a few live edge slabs cut from the bigger ones.
Back in New Gloucester this week taking this freshly cleared yard, grubbing it's roots and rocks to lay down a few hundred cubic yards of fresh loam before hydroseed. The owner is certainly going to need a zero turn mower to keep up with this!
Does your driveway look like this? Cracked, broken asphalt, sunken on both sides?
We can tear it out and replace it with gravel - which can be fixed as needed by the yard and graded easily with a tractor. This 250' drive will be torn out, recycled, and replaced with crushed gravel, driveway number three for us this week.
Basic installation of 4" rock, 1.5" gravel driveway topped with recycled, crushed concrete for a client in Harrison this week. We burned 1.5 acres of saplings before this drive, giving them access to install power and have their travel trailer on site to begin building their first home.
Some initial photos of the Sturdivant Island job this week. 2 acres of ancient sumac, bittersweet, pine oak maple and poplar. Saving mature trees from the choking bittersweet vines is time consuming but rewarding.
This site will have elevated three season camping tent platforms built This summer.
