Tolumnia Triquetra
Hello Montego Bay...
Jamaica Orchid Society
With the rains we have been having you have to be on the lookout for 'Southern Blight' which is a fungus as seen here on a strap leaved Vanda. It starts in the leaf axils and the leaves start to turn yellow. On closer inspection and removal of the leaves you will see the tell tale signs of small round beads. In this plant 7 pairs of leaves were removed. Needless to say this poor plant is headed to orchid heaven. Be careful as it spreads quickly and it is deadly if left unchecked. Also affects other genera and loves this type of moist weather that we have been having.
