So excited Alivia and Ben got to work with Dr. Chris Heffner at LVC today! They put on a fantastic concert after just 5 1/2 hours with music they’ve never seen before today!
The cold never bothered us anyway- Ben and Pippy are ready for rehearsal! Also check out the beautiful winter view from Blair Music Center at LVC!
Ready for the concert!
(Ben is on the right side in the back, where the yellow screen meets the black curtain)
Sneak peek of what Ben’s been up to yesterday and today so far at District Band! Lots of cool but tricky pieces on the concert. What are you doing this time tomorrow? Whatever it is- drop it and come to the Mahanoy Area auditorium at 7:00!
The Jr./Sr. High Winter Band and Choir Concert will take place tomorrow evening (Wednesday) at 7pm in the auditorium. Doors open at 6:40pm. Admission is free but donations are welcome! Come on out to hear some fun holiday tunes - Hope to see you there!
Congratulations to our Mahanoy Area Marching Band members on their first place performance with points going up in all categories from last week’s competition and great scores in Music, Marching, Percussion and Band Front (Auxiliary)!!! I love seeing these students grow and improve week to week and I am so proud of the work that they put in to make that happen!!! Go Bear Band!
Also shout out to our Alexandra Bet on her Best Performer Award at Championships tonight! Only two were chosen from this TOB Chapter Season from the A class bands and she was one of them!
It was a great night to be a Bear, but an awesome night to be in the Bear Band! We had a wonderful turnout of alumni for the parade and game, and the whole marching band did a fantastic job with their show as always but made all the more impressive following a pep band performance Thursday night, a rehearsal Friday morning, a pep rally in the afternoon and a 2 mile parade earlier in the evening! Also- Congrats to our Drum Majors and one of our majorettes on being crowned Queen and court! On to the next thing—- we perform at North Schuylkill’s competition later today (yes it’s past midnight) at 6:30 in the gym at North Schuylkill High School! I will be selling tickets in the Mahanoy Band Room from 3:15pm until we get on the bus to go. If you buy tickets through me rather than at the door, it supports our band. Hope to see you there!!!
Hey all! Some of you were asking last night about rain or shine! The competition is still on, it’s just moving indoors, so performances will be at a stand still, no drill movements. Families/Fans, please don’t buy your tickets at the door, buy your tickets through Miss Ferraro before we go, because the proceeds benefit our band then!
Due to the weather forecast, the North Schuylkill Tournament of Bands scheduled for this Saturday will now be held inside in the Cesari-Hope Gymnasium at the High School.
The Mahanoy Area Marching Band will be representing our school at the 149th Gratz Fair Band Day tomorrow, Friday, September 22nd. The Band Performances start at 12:30 PM. Featuring 8 High School Bands from Schuylkill and Dauphin Counties- Millersburg, Line Mountain, Shenandoah Valley, Upper Dauphin, Halifax, Tri Valley, Williams Valley, and Mahanoy Area. After each band has performed, all of the bands will come together to perform 3 songs together!
If you have the day off, come check it out! Hope to see you there!

In my
6th year teaching, with my
5th iteration of the Mahanoy Band, on our
4th day of band camp, the long reigning High Winds were champions of the Roll Step Relay 4th year in a row, and we had
3 day late Christmas in July with Hot Chocolate that was promised, and we put
2.5 songs on the field (2 of which we played and moved at least twice by the end of the day) and we got in
2 rounds of Ships and Sailors (congrats Ben and Jonathan)- man, I have
1 amazing band!
Well done this week everyone!
See you Monday at 8am. Remember camp next week is only until noon and pictures are 8/11 @ 8:30- be there by 8:15.
Enjoy your weekend! I’m gonna go lifeguard a party…
