Kathleen has embraced the mindset shift and while we had some uncomfortable conversations in the first few weeks, she has now shifted her future identity and we are started to see the results ๐Ÿ”ฅ

The shift has resulted in her walking 75k in the last few weeks just from going for a walk at lunchtime and changing her mindset around what is ๐—ฃ๐—ข๐—ฆ๐—ฆ๐—œ๐—•๐—Ÿ๐—˜.

To often we focus on the ๐—ข๐—จ๐—ง๐—–๐—ข๐— ๐—˜ and ๐—ฆ๐—ข๐—–๐—œ๐—”๐—Ÿ ๐— ๐—˜๐——๐—œ๐—” does a great job (๐˜จ๐˜ถ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ต๐˜บ) of focusing on the ๐—˜๐—ก๐—— ๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—ฆ๐—จ๐—Ÿ๐—ง.

The ๐—™๐—ข๐—–๐—จ๐—ฆ needs to be on the where we are right ๐—ก๐—ข๐—ช.

Because it is ๐—›๐—ข๐—ช ๐—ช๐—˜ ๐—™๐—˜๐—˜๐—Ÿ at the start that is inevitably going to ๐—Ÿ๐—˜๐—”๐—— us to the path that changes the course of our ๐—Ÿ๐—œ๐—™๐—˜.

Fear of ๐—™๐—”๐—œ๐—Ÿ๐—จ๐—ฅ๐—˜ because we never reach the goal we set out to achieve.

You may have a life changing goal and that is ๐—”๐—ช๐—˜๐—ฆ๐—ข๐— ๐—˜ but donโ€™t let the challenge of that goal stop you from starting.

Because just getting started can be ๐—Ÿ๐—œ๐—™๐—˜ changing.

A 5-10 percent weight-loss can result in a five point increase in HDL cholesterol.

Losing 5-10 percent of body weight was shown to decrease triglycerides by an average of 40 mg/dl.

By losing 5-10 percent of weight, blood pressure, both systolic and diastolic, decrease by 5 mmHg on average.

The normal level of Hemoglobin A1C (marker for diabetes) should be below 6.5 and a 5-10 percent weight-loss can decrease this marker by half a point on average.

Modest weight-loss was found to significantly decrease insulin sensitivity.

It has been shown that a 5-10 percent weight-loss may improve sleep apnea.

When weight-loss achieves a level of 10 percent, the levels of inflammatory substances circulating in the blood drop significantly.

All these improvements ultimately lead to a reduced chance of having a heart attack or stroke.

We quickly move from one โ€˜๐™ฅ๐™š๐™ง๐™˜๐™š๐™ž๐™ซ๐™š๐™™ ๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ง๐™š๐™จ๐™จโ€™ to another but itโ€™s important to remember the only thing we can โ€˜๐™˜๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ง๐™ค๐™กโ€™ is our ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฐ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ.

Only a few weeks ago we were moving from ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜จ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜จ๐˜ฆ to make sure we were ๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—”๐——๐—ฌ for our move back to SG.

Now we have quickly forgotten the enormity of moving to SG as we now shift our energy to the challenges of settling into a new country as a family, new job, apartment and nursery etc

Now I know there are ๐˜ค๐˜ช๐˜ณ๐˜ค๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ฆ๐˜ด when ๐—Ÿ๐—œ๐—™๐—˜ gets very real and is bloody tough.

But it gets a whole lot easier when we ๐—–๐—›๐—ข๐—ข๐—ฆ๐—˜ how we respond.

How we ๐—ฆ๐—›๐—ข๐—ช up.

How we ๐—˜๐— ๐—•๐—ฅ๐—”๐—–๐—˜ the challenge.

How we choose ๐—ฃ๐—จ๐—ฅ๐—ฃ๐—ข๐—ฆ๐—˜ over ๐—ฃ๐—Ÿ๐—˜๐—”๐—ฆ๐—จ๐—ฅ๐—˜.

We are all more ๐—ฆ๐—œ๐— ๐—œ๐—Ÿ๐—”๐—ฅ than your ๐—ž๐—ก๐—ข๐—ช.

I know as I felt the same.

Free falling further away from the ๐—˜๐—ซ๐—”๐— ๐—ฃ๐—Ÿ๐—˜ you want to be.

But I can be brutally honest and tell you want it takes.

It takes ๐—ฌ๐—ข๐—จ to take ๐—ข๐—ช๐—ก๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—ฆ๐—›๐—œ๐—ฃ of the situation.

The ๐—ข๐—ก๐—Ÿ๐—ฌ way to flip those ๐—œ๐—ก๐—”๐——๐—˜๐—ค๐—จ๐—”๐—–๐—œ๐—˜๐—ฆ around is to take ๐—”๐—–๐—ง๐—œ๐—ข๐—ก.

And this is usually where we discover ๐—ง๐—›๐—”๐—ง ๐— ๐—ข๐— ๐—˜๐—ก๐—ง.

Big question to ask!

Fast forward to 2022 and I most definitely think SOCIETY PRESSURE and how men think they โ€˜NEED TO LOOKโ€™ is killing their happiness!

As I mentioned yesterday most men set out with the goal.

โ€˜I WANT a 6 packโ€™

This has not changed since I picked up my first copy of Mens Health in the 90s (Hey there is nothing wrong with wanting a 6 pack) but social media has only COMPOUNDED it.

What I know now IS THISโ€ฆ

Getting a 6 pack can be very fleeting and it is important not to tie up your IDENTITY in it.

Unless you are in a small % of the world who are gifted genetically it is very difficult to maintain a 6 pack ALL YEAR round.

It is a WAY OF LIFE.

A way of life that most MEN are not willing to take on.

Or Dads โ€˜NEEDโ€™ to take on.

Especially when life gets REAL.

Becoming a Dad. Family. Stress and sleep. Social life.

The IDENTITY is not wrapped up in the goal to the point you are willing to make the sacrifice.

And that it totally OK.

Because for most men the goal is probably (they just done know it yet!) NOT to get a 6 pack.

So what do WE want?

It is just to bloody FEEL good!

Actually F&ck thatโ€ฆ

IT IS TO FEEL GREAT.

So how do we make sure we feel GREAT?

By creating a LIFESTYLE on your terms.

It can be losing the first 10lbs.

Your belt coming down a few notches.

It is having the confidence to take your top off on the beach.

Having the energy to keep up with your kids.

Having your kids watch you take part in a 5k Park Run.

By leading by example and being the best version of yourself.

By showing up for your family and say โ€˜IVE GOT THISโ€™.

I guaranteed that is a more REWARDING goal thanโ€ฆ

โ€œI want to get a 6 packโ€™

Because once the 6 pack has GONE what are you LEFT with?

The same OLD IDENTITY.

It is time to chase a BIGGER goal.

It is TIME to step up.

Now your are MISSION READY.

Will I be ready in the ๐—ž๐—˜๐—ฌ moments of ๐—Ÿ๐—œ๐—™๐—˜?

Will I be ๐—ฆ๐—ง๐—ฅ๐—ข๐—ก๐—š enough during my ๐—–๐—Ÿ๐—œ๐—™๐—™ ๐—›๐—”๐—ก๐—š๐—˜๐—ฅ moment?

Will I be ๐—ฃ๐—›๐—ฌ๐—ฆ๐—œ๐—–๐—”๐—Ÿ๐—Ÿ๐—ฌ ready when it is time to ๐—ฆ๐—ง๐—˜๐—ฃ ๐—จ๐—ฃ?
