“Come Back to Us” Lyrics Video.
What if you were a puppet strung along by your own mind? It writes the story that your body must follow, you try to stop it but you only make things worse. You walk for days attempting to find your way back home, you try and sleep but the sounds of the city around you blare your eyes open and force you to keep moving. The bridges are blocked to travelers on foot, and you’re trapped on an island. You walk 26 miles north hoping to escape, finding water bottles and half smoked ci******es on your way to keep you going. Welcome to hell. Try and find your way out and come back to us…

"Groaning Seed" Lyrics Video.
This song is very near and dear to my heart. It's the first song that took shape while building "Gleaner", and it has all of my favorite type of sounds and atmosphere.
The gradual build-up, distant afflicted vocalizations and 3 difficult to discern voices interweaving that have an interesting emotive quality.
I hope you enjoy it.

So, in the wee hours of the morning I found myself toiling away on electronic music, thanks in large part to the suggestion and support of my brother (mainly due to his love of EDM) and a pale friend (also due to his love of fat beats).
Attached please find track one of the "Sic Vis Pacem?" series.
I hope you enjoy this abrupt musical interlude.

And now for a (not)lyric video for “Pray for Rain” off the new album "Gleaner".
Enjoy some soothing ambient vocals and soft guitar melodies. It's a short interlude on the album that holds a special place for me. I love vocalizations in music, something about the sound a voice can make without saying something is just vitally important to me.
It's (not) a lyric video, because it has no lyrics, it's instrumental! [End of a light-hearted attempt at written jokes, apologies.]

And now for a lyric video for “Mourning Star” off the new album "Gleaner".
A cautionary tale knit from my own personal struggles with that voice in your head that never seems to have the right answers to anything. The vocals go a bit out there in style on this one but they are meant to. A difficult to listen to voice and message are purposeful in this song. It is my pseudo-theatrical way of mimicking something dark within you that you’re meant to reign in and rid yourself of. There’s only one thing that can help with this, and the lyrics talk of what that is…

Along comes a lyrical video for “So” off the new album "Gleaner".
It is the little things that make my days, and this song is a testament to that feeling and how it is always important to look beyond the day to day. As we age time speeds up faster and faster so when something comes along that finally makes time irrelevant, it is important to remember to find someway to pause along with time and give thanks.
This song is my reminder…

Through the Dark, a lyrics video by Ehret.
The driving udu beat and old timey footage fit together well on this one. I don't normally like explaining lyrics or song meanings, but it's tough not to state something subconsciously when video footage is selected.

This one’s a bit more focused on just words with little visual distractions. The lyrics mean a lot to me as they are parts of common internal conversations that echo through me.

A Foreword...
A profound beauty resonates throughout Ehret’s soulful “Gleaner”. The careful update of a traditional folk sound gives the album a living, breathing poignancy. Delivered with the right level of urgency Ehret crafts a world uniquely his own. Instrumentally vibrant a wide slew of color filters into the dense mix. Going for a hint of the theatrical there is an intense drama to the way the album unfurls. Narratives emerge in each piece while Ehret ties the whole of the album together in a way that feels truly all-encompassing. Emotionally rich a poetry starts to formulate as the careful marriage of word and sound mesh into a compelling stream of consciousness.
While heavily versed in folk, elements of rock, electronica, and experimental filter into the sound. In this fashion, he draws from Grizzly Bear’s earlier, darker works. Clever riffs and melodies further highlight this unique orchestration that takes place. Beyond this, Ehret’s refusal to go for simplicity, instead exploring the complexity of the arrangements, takes a page from Richard Dawson’s work on “The Peasant”. Like that album, “Gleaner” goes for something heavier, deeper, and richer than many of his contemporaries. Everything about it churns about in oftentimes uneasy rhythms.
“I’m Here Now” sets the tone for what follows – a brooding atmosphere that fully comes into bloom with “Sow”. On “Sow” the scrapes of the guitar convey a sense of determination, strummed with urgency. Distortion rears its head on the colossal stately aura of “Through the Dark” with the vocals echoing into the cavernous space. The drums hit with such insistence that it has a clear-eyed focus to it, making it one of the highlights of the album. “So” features a delicate toy box melody woven right into the sound’s very DNA. Quite lovely “Mourning Star” offers a lush backdrop to some of his most surreal imagery, verging on outright meditative in scope. Teeming with a giddy energy is the propulsive “Sew”. With guitar work that has a woven quality, “Pray for Rain” proves to be a glimmer of hope. Stark with its focus “Groaning Seed” has a crystal clarity to it.
The whole of “Come Back to Us” proves to be a tender ode, one that reveals a truly beating heart. Drums underpin the emotionally resonant core of the piece. Chamber folk qualities emerge on “September 12th, 2017”. Spacious and ambitious “Two Olive Trees” feels akin to a grand journey. Jagged electronic pulses filter through on the anxious “Soh”. Swinging back into a hushed awe is the aptly named “Poet King”. Atmospherics matter a great deal with the acutely balanced “Broken Seals”. Guitar and vocals become one with the deliberate pace of “Sluice”. Effortlessly tying everything together is the majestic finale of “The Covenant”.
