I've been meaning to make a post about the little side hustle we started during Covid, so here it is 2 years overdue!

Steph and I have developed a couple of devices that are designed to aid the use of asthma inhalers, particularly for people with arthritic, weak, or simply small hands. The most popular device we have branded the ‘HalerMate’, the idea for which was first given to me by a retired NHS nurse.

The design of standard MDI asthma inhalers is so non-ergonomic that it can force many people to become dependent on friends and family for help using their inhaler, as well as contributing to wastage and incorrect dosage. The HalerMate allows users to use their whole hand in a much more ergonomic and natural position.

We have recently crossed the 2500 sales across all our inhaler aid products, but the most rewarding part has been receiving countless reviews and messages from people who have regained a little bit of independence or can now use their inhaler with much less pain. So far, our product range covers a number of different inhalers, and more are on the way.

If you have a relative or friend who suffers from asthma or COPD as well as arthritis, or any other condition that affects hand strength, please let them know! If they use an inhaler (or any other device for that matter), that we do not have a product for, then send them my way! For now, we’re selling via eBay and Etsy, but our website is coming soon!
