I’ve been busy selling bookmarks at markets. It was great to be at the kids Market in Otaki a couple of weeks ago.

Family-friendly focus for Ōtaki Market Children can now run their own market business.

It's nearly ANZAC Day and I really like this pretty poppy design.

I have lots of other lovely bookmarks too.

It is really fun getting nice private messages and seeing pictures of my bookmarks being used.

I'm excited that I've nearly reached my first goal so now I'm going to try to raise money to get an EPRO8 electronics kit for my school. We don't have one and our teams did really well at the Wellington Region Finals last year but we'd do much better if we had all of the equipment to practice with.

Epro8 is a STEM competition for kids. Our team was all girls and we came 3rd in the finals of the year 5 and 6 competition last year.

The biggest problem I was having this week was keeping track of orders so Mum helped me learn to build a simple website. I've just finished adding all of the stock so it's easy to see what I have. 😀

Brighten My Book updated their website address.

Some of my new favourite designs. Puppy Paws, Poppies, Rainbow with Stars, Bright Rainbow and Zebra. I really like the paw prints.

I have had a very busy first week! It was great to get orders sent out to all the nice people that ordered bookmarks and I went and met Mrs Simpson at her bookshop Books&Co and she is selling some of my bookmarks in her shop!

Next week I am planning on going to a market. It's very exciting.

All of the colours and designs of elastic I get are limited and that means they are all unique. Here is the first bunch. I can make only 2-3 of each pattern.

Hi! I’m Carys and I’m 11 years old. I started Brighten My Book bookmarks in the holidays because I wanted to raise money to buy a new school device, I love crafts and I wanted to start a business.

I make all of the bookmarks myself. There are lots of different colours and designs.

Standard size is $5 plus post.

The standard size fits perfectly on a paperback or hard cover reading book but I can make them larger for journals and bigger books too, you can message me for information.

I can post them in New Zealand (post is $1.50).
