Close Encounters Painting
Professional painting company with over 25 years of experience. Specializing in kitchen cabinet remodels.
Over 10 years of carpentry and tile installation experience.
This was all my foreman, Marvin Franck and his helpers. Only thing I did was get the job, manage a bit of the structural design and off the guys went. They even came up with best way to work in the benches. So freaking blessed to have such amazing team members. I was telling a client just yesterday that what's more important to me is who my team members are as people. I can teach painting and carpentry skills but I can't teach love, patience, caring and professionalism. Every one of my team has all of those things and I could not ask for more!
So this is now 2 years in a row. I'm not sure how "prestigious" the award is, but for me it means a lot to be recognized as a neighborhood fave! Thank you Dundee, Metcalf and Country Club!!
So ... This is happening :)
Hello followers, friends and clients. I've been sick for last 3 days. I apologize for delays. My project managers team and Albertos team have been picking up the slack, but I know there are a few smaller jobs that need to be completed. I'll be concentrating on finishing them all up this week. In the mean time ...
Thank you for the recommendations. This is 2nd year in a row we were awarded this ..
2024 Neighborhood App "Fave"
This!!
Took some work with me this weekend while at the Oddities & Curiosities Expo with Claire Morgan Caswell You Do Voodoo / Wicked Raven Art ... Back on Monday afternoon and finish some things up for some clients and get the team focused on finishing up a huge "flip" and starting the biggest house (in Dundee) we will have ever painted. Also have a full deck demo/rebuild and stain job, a ceiling repaint, finish up a 100 year old stair case, etc ..
Threw in some random pics of work!
Sometimes.... Your clients share a helper! Mazzie is the most loving golden retriever ever....and that's saying a lot for a golden. She's one of my long time clients companion. The boxer is "Gus" and he loves me and he actually listens to me. He is a wonderful boy with a lot of energy. ;) His parents have become more than just clients.
I'm actually kind of impressed with myself (yes, I did some physical work!). The bottom of these large columns on the front of this 100 year old house we're completely rotted out. Some water damage ..but mostly a very large network of very large ants.
In fact ... while I was cutting it out .. I gently relocated the ants, but once I had new pieces in place, several ants had brought back some food and could not find their way in. I actually got a bit sad about that. Anyway, the columns would have been about $200 to fix with cedar. I got creative and used 2x6 boards and 3/4 inch PVC for the very bottom so it's 100% water proof and will keep it from rotting again. I fixed the window the same way.
I love working on old homes! 😀
I gained 19 followers, created 7 posts and received 156 reactions in the past 90 days! Thank you all for your continued support. I could not have done it without you. 🙏🤗🎉
Included some random pictures of things we have worked on the last month! So proud of my team. So blessed to have such amazing clients.
Can not wait to see this one finished. Sherwin Williams Iron Ore on the body and Agreeable gray for the trim around windows and front entry! This is a long time client and this was a big step for him. A huge change in color!
What a blessing to own this company and to have such amazing people working to make it a success! My mom .. yes my mom, who has over 30 years of wallpaper experience is teaching this painter to be the best wallpaperer in Omaha. This is the 4th time she has traveled from 3 hours away to take the lead on completing a wallpaper job. She's been able to show my foreman and others the process. I expect by this time next year, I'll have two + myself... wallpaper experts at Close Encounters!
This was a fun one....an entire sunroom/office for an amazing couple! The trick of matching the pattern against out-of-square corners and a roller coaster of a ceiling line was a learning experience and rewarding when finished!
Who would like something similar ?? We are ready!
Sharing a memory! Before I officially started Close Encounters Painting

Not 100% completed ..but close. A few touch ups and I'm going to add a stain "base trim" to the board. The Joslyn Castle (Carriage House Art Gallery) that we recently painted the windows on, had asked me to make 2 portable/movable art walls. I've dealt with many art walls over the years and all of them required you to put holes in the walls. If you were displaying art for a show, you'd need to patch the holes and paint once the show was over and over time, the walls would look pretty beat up.
Anyway, my idea here was to design and build something that had a similar look to the walls and beautiful design of the interior of the carriage house and to do portable and able to be stored. The wall is separate from the left bases and can be removed to turn on it's side and for through standard door heights and stored. The trim on the walls were designed and stained to match the look of the stained trim work inside the carriage house.
Forgot to mention .. so instead of having to put holes in the wall, I put picture rail trim at the top of each wall and each side, so you can simply use hanging wire and rail clips to hang the artwork and keep the wall always looking great!
Thank you very much to my foreman, Marvin, for helping me build these and deliver to the art gallery. I'll be making a few more of them... Slightly different and with some other options. Will share progress on those once I get started on them!
Hello friends! A little update on a project we had started and I posted some "sneak peak" pictures. Here is the final results. The client loves it and it's holding up very well. It took some research, some A/B testing and some extra loving labor ...but Marvin and myself and those that helped finished it and are proud of the results!
These are 3x4 thick white/red cedar boards secured to the exterior of the garage door. Stained and sealed and it changes the dynamic look of the home!
We can do this again! If interested ..give me a call or message me and let's make it happen!
Here comes something new for us and it's been a labor of love for sure. The client has been more than patient.... With the many issues of finding and procuring the wood needed to make this project come to life. Once we are done. I'll post more pictures and explanations on how we managed the process and the important details we considered to make it happen.
Will have some stories to share soon. Adventures in owning your own painting and remodeling company.
Anyway.. this here is something my team and I are very proud of. It's not often that you are blessed to work on a National Historical site. We won the bid based on our attention to detail and the ability to provide carpentry work. What a difference the work made. Such a beautiful site. We hope to also do the main castle at some point. Hey ....they are looking for grants! Someone with some deep pockets consider giving to the castle to restore and paint the main windows! :)
Thank you to John Paul, Josh and all of those responsible for the opportunity. Thank you to Marvin and his team for doing such an amazing job and breathing even more life into such a beautiful building.
For those that are not aware, the Carriage house is being turned into a full time event and art gallery. Please support this effort!
Just some random jobsite pictures. An Easter egg in the bunch! Enjoy! Thank you to all of the wonderful clients this year!
