Neelkanth mahadev temple famous on Uttrakhand. According to our dharma,
the place where the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple currently stands is the sacred location where Lord Shiva consumed the poison that originated from the sea, when gods and demons churned the ocean in order to obtain nectar.

This temple is known as Raghunath temple because the main deity of this temple is Rama. It's is situated in jammu. It's believed that it's was constructed by first dogra ruler Maharaja gulab singh in the year 1835 and later his son Maharaja ranbir got it completed in the year 1860 during Dogra rule.

The legend says that Lord Shiva worshipped Goddess Maha Shakti to get all the Siddhis as blessings. With the gratitude of Goddess Siddhidatri, Lord Shiva attains the half body of Goddess Shakti that is why Lord Shiva is also known as “Ardhanarishvara”.

It is believed that Goddess Parvati did severe penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband, due to which her body turned black. and she became weak day by day.
On the day when Mahadev was pleased with his rigorous penance and accepted his prayer. Since, she had become weak and was covered in all kinds of dirt, Lord Shiva decided to cleanse her. He allowed the holy waters of Ganga flowing through his hair, to fall onto Maa Parvati. This sacred water washed away all the dirt from Maa Parvati’s body and she was able to regain her lost radiance. That why she got the name mahagauri. She represents the purity and inner beauty of every living being.

Once upon time Indra dev killed two demons Shumbha and Nishumbha's brother Namuchi. As a result of which those demons decided to avenge on their brother, they attacked on Indra loka, and in this battle the demons Chanda, Munda and Raktabeej helped them to defeat the gods. These three demons were old friends of Mahishasura, who was killed by Maa Katyayani.

When gods where defect by demons they went to Himalaya and pray to Goddess Parvati. She understood their fears and created another goddess - Chandi - to help them. Goddess Chandi was able to kill most of the demons sent by Shumbha and Nishumbha but demons like Chandha, Mundha and Raktabeej were too powerful and she was unable to kill them. So, Goddess Chandi created another goddess from her forehead, who came to be known as Kaalratri or kaali.Demon name Raktabeej has special boon from Lord Bramha that if any drop of his blood fell to the ground, another lookalike of him would be created from that drop. So, Maa Kaalratri started drinking the blood of every clone of Raktabeej. This prevented his blood from falling to the ground and eventually he was killed by Maa Kaalratri. Later, she also killed Shumbha and Nishumbha.

It is believed that when the demon king Mahishasura received indomitable power from Lord Shiva, he harassed the sage and attacked the deities. When the sage and the deity were upset, they came to the goddess Shakti and asked to save her from the wrath of Mahishasura. Goddess Shakti decided to take birth on earth and end the reign of Mahishasura. She fulfilled the wish of sage Katyayan and took birth on earth as his daughter. Hence she is also called Goddess Katyayani. She represents power, strength (Shakti), knowledge, the victory of good over evil and the ability to show courage.

When lord shiva and goddess Parvati son Kartikeya born goddess Parvati called as a Skandamata. Because kartikeya also called as Skanda so her mother Parvati called as Skandamata. She represents salvation, power, prosperity, and treasure.

Once upon a time when Lord Shiva agreed to marry Goddess Parvati. Then when the day of marriage came, Lord Shiva had a snake around his neck and ashes wrapped around his body. Seeing this, the family of Goddess Parvati got scared of Lord Shiva. Seeing this, Goddess Parvati assumed a terrifying form similar to Lord Shiva, so that Lord Shiva would return to the normal form. That terrible form is known as Chandraghanta. She represents bravery and courage.

Goddess Parvati wants to marry Lord Shiva, so she resolved to marry Shiva. And she left her parents' house and started living on the mountain like Shiva, she did penance for 5000 years to win the heart of Lord Shiva.
Hence, she is also called Goddess Brahmacharini.She represents love, loyalty , wishdom and knowledge.

Goddess shailputri was the daughter of King mountain himavat, her previous birth name was Sati.She is worshipped on the first day of Navratri and also known as goddess Parvati. She represents patience and devotion.
