Saguaro Sunset suncatcher and a large dragon fly screen saver are my two latest projects. The suncatcher features a prickly pear cactus using the freeze fuse process and the dragonfly is a two stage firing adding the iridescent wings last. Unexpected interesting things happen to some glass in the firing process. The body was created with powdered glass in a mold. PM me about pricing.
This is a commission I received at the Feb. Craft Fair here. The client had a great time ATVing in Mexico but one of her macine’s belts broke. The “cab” is a piece of that belt and with the exception of the clasp, I fabricated everything else. This was my last major work here for the season.
Yesterday I finished creating the sterling silver clasp for this funky hand crocheted collar. I am going to give it to a friend here.
My two latest sun catchers, measuring about 15 cm or 6 in across. The top one looks rather plain until the sun hits it full on, then the WOWzer factor kicks in. The sun flower is made of multiple layers of petals and embellishments. Each one sells for $50.00.
Everything on this site is for sale. PM me for details for the items you are interested in. HST is incuded but S & H depends on your location. Locally (Perth Ontario{) we can meet somewhere convenient to both. During Nov. to mid April, we are in the American southwest. Items can be bought direct from Tucson, AZ, to the end of Feb. , or Taos, NM during March.
This suncatcher came out of my kiln yesterday. It features some gold mica dust along the tops of the mountains and drawn up in the sky area. With the right sun angle, that area will shimmer and show up the purple clouds.
This is the latest wall vase that I have made.
Here's my latest vase. This one features copper wire wrapping around the edges as part of the hanging materials.
Back to posts of sales items. Today I finished this wall vase. I also took a pic of a fused glass pendant and hand fabricated silver bail I made then attached to a silver chain I purchased several years ago.
I always liked the Egyptian motif necklace set I donated to the auction and wanted one for myself but I don't like to exactly replicate any of my designs. So I made this one with just sterling and brass and obsidian and onyx accent beads. This set stays in my perrsonal jewellery box. However, I can make another similar, not identical set for someone. PM me with your request and necklace length and I will get back with a cost.
These two necklaces I made several years ago and the original clasps had become tacky. I restrung them last April and made new sterling silver clasps for them.
The weather here the past few days has been so balmy, I have spent a lot of time outdoors with yard work etc. Now the weather's aa bit dreary, I am back at it. The beads and clasp in this necklace are fine silver, (99.9% pure silver) that absolutely screamed 😃 at me to buy them at last year's gem show in Tucson. I added black Swarovski crystal accents.
This pendant features all my work. Nothing was made by someone else. The turquoise stone I sawed off a much larger rock I had acquired in Tucson, ground and polished. The webbing on both sides was too interesting to lose set in a pendant base, so I made a pinch bail in order to make a choice or just let it flip on its own.
This stone is the very first one that I ground, polished and set in sterling silver. It began as a piece of gravel from our driveway that I pocketed just before we headed south one year. The lines and colours of that stone made me think it might make an interesting abstract painting, instead it was a huge learning curve and took me away from simply stringing beads.
In the beginning I purchased and strung beads as in the first necklace featuring three orthoceras gems. This necklace has been sold.
In Alabama I took some workshops at the Orange Beach Arts Centre where I became enthused with glass fusion. The boot shaped pendant was one of my first creations there. Palm trees also became a passion. Both these pendants are super ways of using left-over bits and pieces. This is the first of several posts featuring what is in my personal jewellery box.
Here's the newest suncatcher, fresh out of the kiln this morning.
Two new items fresh from the kiln, a sunflower wall plaque, (sold) and a small dish.
A couple of my pictures were out of focus, I took better ones. The tiger eye ring is mine but the wall vase is in my sales stock.
The Egyptian motif set was donated to a silent auction. I make the commemorative toilet paper roll earrings in sterling silver or copper. The cardinal suncatcher hangs in the window over my kitchen sink. The large pinkish stone I found as a rough crystal during a desert hike near Benson AZ. I tumbled it to the shape shown, made the silver chain, bail and clasp.
Most of these items I have made since our return home last March. The second bee from the left in that picture has been sold. The sterling silver dragonfly pendant has been sold as well.
