Wheels are done! Need to clean up the inside of the body work, do a final sand and polish on the paint, then its onto final assembly!
モデルファクトリーヒロ Model Factory Hiro 1/12 Maserati 250F Streamliner.
Last major assemblies of the MFH Maser 250F! Only 600 parts to build the four wheels.
And that's the chassis finished on the MFH 1/12 Maserati 250F streamliner! Just the wheels left to build and the body to wet sand before it is done and off to it's new home.
Got the fuel tank painted and installed to the chassis (still need to do the straps), not much left to do at this point!
Bit of a reorg for the new year. Refining the filming set up to hopefully get better footage for my videos!
Progress on the Maserati 250F. After laying down the color coat, did a few coats of clear, then the decals. MFH decals went on very well, and after three coats of clear are looking good! (not pink!)
As Johnny Cash says, one piece at a time...
Getting ever closer on the Model Factory Hiro 1/12 Maserati 250F
Sometimes its the little things that bring a smile to your face and a sense of pride to your heart.
These were done using the kit supplied photo etch, painted with enamel and cleared using UV resin. The hood emblem is 3.75mm (5/32" in freedom units), the steering wheel emblem is 3mm (1/8")
One part made of three pieces took 2 hours to get ready for paint...
Making some progress on the MFH Maserati 250F. Dash installed, chassis nearing completion!
Things have been a bit slow going, but I am managing to move forward! Red is not my favorite colour, but the Zero Paints laid down great. Now, I don't normally gloss before decals but when dealing with white decals over red, it helps to prevent the red from tinting the decals pink, so a coat of clear up next then onto decals.
Also check out my YouTube channel, posting weekly build vlogs! (same name as this page)
part 4 of the 917 build now up on YouTube!
1971 Porsche 917K Le Mans winner - Model Factory Hiro 1/12 scale Part 4 In this episode, I work on the mid section and front end.

1971 Porsche 917K Le Mans winner - Model Factory Hiro 1/12 scale Part 3 In this episode, I work on the front and rear suspension and brakes, and get the rear installed.
Been a hot minute since I posted an update on the Maserati!
Past few months have thrown me some challenges in life, so haven't had much motivation to be at the bench, but things are starting to get better, so getting into it again! Also finally started editing and posting the videos of the Porsche 917K build on my YouTube channel (Motorsport in Scale), check it out if you like overly long winded videos, lol.
The chassis of the MFH 1/12 Maserati 250F Streamliner is almost complete, have the front and rear sections joined. Up next will be finishing the dash and seat, then onto the brakes.
Episode 2 of the MFH Porsche 917K is live on my YouTube channel! New episode every Friday at 9am PST, be sure to subscribe so as to not miss any!
In this episode I go into detail on how I fixed the door fitment and general body work.
1971 Porsche 917K Le Mans winner - Model Factory Hiro 1/12 scale Part 2 In this episode, I work on correcting some fit issues with the doors and getting the body work fitting well.
Super happy to get my YouTube channel up and running, first video loaded yesterday, an in box look at the new Beemax Lotus 99T! Today I uploaded the first video of the build series for the MFH Porsche 917K, this will be a ten part series with new videos weekly, Friday mornings at 9am PST.
The goal of the channel is to share my work, show how I do things, and any challenges along the way. For build series, they will not be 'live', as I want to ensure the project will be complete before I upload any content - nothing more frustrating than watching someones project only for them to abandon it! Uploads will be every Friday at 9am PST. I may do ad hac uploads if I have something in the moment to share such as kit reviews (although I do not plan on doing many of these) or how-to's if I get requests for things like that. I would be much appreciative if you head over to my channel and subscribe to it! Don't forget to hit the notification bell so you know when I release a new video, and I hope you enjoy it!

Will have a closer look on the weekend
Model Factory Hiro 1/12 Maserati 250F Streamliner update.
Front section of the chassis is complete, went together well with little to no fit issues other than straightening some bent parts!
Got all the parts prep'd and painted for the front part of the chassis. Just need to fabricate some brake lines, then start assembling! Super pleased with how the polished brass turned out on the radiator. Shooting for an in-period look, so a bit of grime on the chassis and suspension.
Getting the projects together to pack up for a show/contest tomorrow. First one I have attended since 1985!
Completed the Model Factory Hiro 1/12 Porsche 917K 1971 Le Mans winning car.
This kit has been quite the challenge for sure, with some major fit and quality of parts issues. Most of which I was able to overcome, with the notable exception of the rear deck, it was too badly warped and of the incorrect size to get it to fit closed, which is a shame. In hindsight, I should have gotten a new one, but I did not. In any case, the project turned out well, I hope you enjoy these photos for the finished project.
I will upload all the photos into an album as well if you want to see all the work along the way.
Final WIP photo's of the MFH 1/12 Porsche 917K. Just need to give it a clean up and polish to get rid of finger prints and such, and install the wiper arm assembly!
Getting close to completion of the MFH Porsche 917K in 1/12 scale. Chassis is more or less done, side pods mounted now that they are painted, interior finished. Working on getting the inside of the front body complete in preparation of mounting to the lower chassis. With it being the 100 anniversary of Le Mans this weekend, I will either get inspired to finish it off, or get detracted and do nothing!
After leaving the clear lacquer to harden up for about a week, I finished it up by wet sanding and then cutting and polishing. End result turned out fairly good, now onto final details and assembly!
With the clear hardening on the 917, I thought I would get a start on the Maserati 250F Streamliner by Model Factory Hiro. First 4 steps done. Its a lovely engine.
Final coats of clear going on! Did 3 coats of GX100 and then wet sanded to get rid of the decal edges, then another 4 wet coats this time with 85% GX100/15% GX114, last one (about to spray in this pic) is thinned 50% more with MLT to help it level and reduce orange peel. Will leave for a few days, then wet sand and polish.
Friday update on the Tamiya Red Bull RB6 project.
Most of the suspension is now in carbon fiber, shifting attention to the chassis that will be opened up.
As I will be displaying this one without the floor pan, need to work how I will close up the cockpit and attach the engine. More to come!
