A great resource for women who are currently going through cancer treatment and are underserved. This is where I currently volunteer at, so excited the clinic is finally opening back up after being closed for the pandemic. If you know someone who is currently going through cancer treatment and is either low income or unemployed this would be a great resource to integrative alternative therapies to supplement any current treatment plan.

Exposures to common chemicals found in products used every day contribute to a lifetime burden of toxic chemicals. The greatest rise in the incidence of breast cancers occurred in the decades after World War II when there were exponential increases in the use of herbicides, pesticides, plastics, cosmetics and body care products.

Cancer is often a perfect storm of genetics and environment. While studies are done on single agents, the reality is that we are living in a toxic chemical soup in modern life exposing us to a myriad of chemicals from multiple sources on a daily basis.

A common chemical BPA (Bisphenol A) is an endocrine disruptor. Exposure to BPA early in life contributes to breast dysplasia's later in life due to its impact on mammary gland gene expression. BPA is found in plastics, linings of canned food containers and credit card receipts.

The Connection Between Breast Cancer and The Environment - American Institute of Integrative Oncology Breast Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed malignancy in women. There is a continually expanding and compelling volume of data linking breast cancer with exposure to environmental toxins, radiation and endocrine disrupters

Having cancer is tough, and it can be hard to find time to care for your body, spirit, and mind. Journaling is a way to care for yourself. Research shows that taking as little as 20 minutes a month for 3 months to write will produce long-lasting benefits to your physical and emotional health. Journaling can help you sleep better, reduce fatigue, and help you adjust psychologically to a cancer diagnosis and treatment. The different types of journaling include gratitude journaling (everything you are grateful for), Blog (commentary about your day-to-day life), stream-of-consciousness writing (write down everything that comes to your mind), art journaling (draw, doodle, or scrapbook what you're feeling), and line-a-day journaling (limit yourself to a single line or sentence for the day). Even writing a letter to yourself or a loved one can also bring the same benefits.
