Another NEW section of Pre-Algebra starts tomorrow, Monday Oct. 9!
This class is a FLEX class, but it offers an individualized, personalized experience. Each week, we will cover 3-4 sections. For example, Chapter 1.1 on Monday, Ch. 1.2 on Tuesday and Ch. 1.3 on Wednesday. Each morning, a 25-30 minute video will be posted with full explanations, examples and practice question. Guided notes and "homework" will also be provided for each section. "Challenge" activities are also often provided. This FLEX course includes review and feedback on homework, either written or a personalized video, or both. This course also includes tests after each chapter to assess your learner's knowledge.

Math One-On-One Private Tutoring or Homework Help 25 Minute (One-Time Session) | Small Online Class for Ages 5-17 These one to one (1:1) sessions are designed specifically to meet your learner's needs and create success in all areas of math, from beginning elementary math to middle school and high school math, geometry, algebra, calculus.

It's offered during after-school, homeschool and weekend hours. If this is your first Outschool class, use the link at the end of this post to get this class for FREE!

In this Hocus Pocus-inspired class, learners will discover the truths and the myths behind the characters and setting of the movies Hocus Pocus and Hocus Pocus 2.

At the beginning of class, the learners and teacher will have an introductory discussion about the movie. Visuals and pictures will be used in class to create discussion. Then, learners will be presented with different characters, themes, settings and other details from the story. Then, the learners will decide which parts they think are based in fact, which are a myth, and which are false. After some discussion, the teacher will present the facts and encourage further discussion. This will repeat for each topic within the class.

Below are some topics that will be covered in the class:

**Salem, MA - This is the setting of both movies. Is this a real place? What was it like in the 1600s, and what is like now? What are some historical events that have happened there?

**Sanderson Sisters - Were they real characters? Are their characters historically accurate? Who were the real witches of Salem?

**History of Halloween - In the first movie, there’s a dispute between two characters about the origins of Halloween. Who is correct? Was it made up by the candy companies, or is it based on Hallow’s Eve? What is Hallow’s Eve?

**Puritans/Settlers of Salem, MA - Who were the first people to settle in Salem, MA, and who are the Puritans?

**Witchcraft in the 1600s and the hysteria around the Salem Witch Trials

This class is best for any student ages 8 to 14 who has watched the Disney movies Hocus Pocus and Hocus Pocus 2.

This class will be discussing themes, characters and settings relating to the movies Hocus Pocus and Hocus Pocus 2, which both have an official rating of PG. This class may include the Salem Witch Trials and the witches who were killed/hanged during that period. This may be a sensitive topic for some learners. Also, please note that we will NOT be watching the movie or clips of the movie during this class.

The class materials will be presented via Google Slides and screen shared on the teacher's screen only. During class, learners will need nothing outside of the Outschool Zoom classroom.

I just wanted to say, I Highly recommend. My 5th grader hates writing and the public school system definitely exacerbated that. Since homeschooling he has done so much better at being comfortable with writing. The changes really started when I signed both him and his sister up for extra support with Ashley. When My son even heard the word “writing” panic hit immediately. Now, I say he has writing class today and he helps set up his area and papers with no issues. He also is so comfortable with her that he reads aloud more and more each class. He used to cry, scream and hide underneath desks in school and even homeschooling he would run to the bathroom to distress before actually making himself read aloud.
The approach Ashley has is slow with being genuinely patient. She is very respectful of different learning needs and focuses on gradual progress instead of having high expectations that not al kids can keep up with.
My daughter is in second grade but does the 3-5 class with her brother. Ashley is very observant of their abilities and gives regular updates to let me know how she is keeping up and seems to be aware of possible challenges that may arise in the future. So far the way she teaches, my daughter and Son are able to keep up and are both progressing each lesson.
Our daily homeschooling read alouds are becoming easier for my son ; and my daughters comprehension is developing quicker. We are having more fun now while we take turns reading together.
I highly recommend Ashley to anyone who’s child may have reading comprehension/writing/fear of reading aloud etc. and need more time to adjust.
