Hot For Color

Hello and Happy Summer! I’ve been spending some time out in the woods next to this majestic waterfall with limited cell service. I’m happy to announce I’ll be taking a few custom orders for the Summer! Let me know if you have a project in mind. I’m looking forward to getting my hands colorful again. :)

Oh hello there! Here’s a silly picture to make you smile. Running this little business is giving me so much joy by providing me the opportunity to play as a form of work. I think that’s hecka neat so in the spirit of play I’ll tell you three things I do to get my silly on:
1. I laugh a lot. No really, like a lot a lot. I have been practicing (for many years now) finding wonder and joy in the smallest little crevices of life. So, sometimes the smallest detail will make me giggle. Or a chortle. I’ve also been know to snortle a time or two. Perhaps I am partially mad. Bwahahaha.
2. I made up this thing for myself called stretch-dancing. It’s a space in which the focus is on stretching every single muscle in my body with the freedom to shake my b***y, two step, or pirouette (hello years of ballet lessons) whenever I feel like it. This is not something I have ever shared with another human. It is only for me. Also, yes, sometimes this makes me laugh because of the sheer absurdity.
3. A trick I learned from teaching kids for many years is that if I need to do a job that requires me to focus and I’m not quite feeling ready to sit and “desk” I shake out the wiggles. Here’s how: you stand there and wiggle your whole body until you feel like the wiggles have subsided for a time and you can focus on the task at hand. You will probably walk to your desk with a little chuckle.

I dyed an eight foot photo backdrop and I’m pretty excited about it. It’s one of my favorite colors (let’s face it, I say that to all the colors) but I don’t often do monochromatic projects. I’ve gotta say... stars in my eyes. What’s something you’ve tried recently that you’re excited about?!
