I have had a request for the Energy Bar recipe we made at Primary Tech last year. I substituted golden syrup instead of honey in the recipe as it made it much cheaper to make, but you can change this back if you prefer. Some kids did not like the flavour of the sesame seeds so you can leave these out. Add in nuts and/or dried fruit if you like. You could also roll the mixture into balls and roll in coconut to make Bliss Balls. These will last for ages in a air tight container in the fridge. They are really yum! Happy cooking 😀
An oldie but a goodie. Can you draw these shapes without lifting your pen or going over any line you have already drawn?
Leonhard Euler, a Swiss mathematician, played around with this idea in the 1700s.
Week 1 Challenge: Design and build a British fort/stockade or Maori pa site from the NZ Land Wars. I was very impressed with the variety of materials and ideas that were used. Check with your child to make sure they have completed this task and posted photos onto their SeeSaw account.
Congratulations to Cody S for winning an Easter prize pack in the Great Bear Hunt. I love the creativity.
Channel 2+1 will be screening educational content for students of all ages (and their parents).
Can all families please pm me and let me know if their children's devices have the ability for them to access their gmail accounts. We are looking at having video conferencing in the mornings to check in and see how everyone is doing. If your internet service does not allow you to have multiple devices connected at once please let me know as we may need to roster video conferencing times for each class. Thanks
A great activity to print or complete on a device.
Christchurch artist makes lockdown diary for children Christchurch artist Stephen McCarthy created the diary so children can have a positive reminder of their time in isolation.
If you are running out of activities to keep your child busy here is an idea. For their reading the students are required to design and build a Maori pa site or a British fort/stockade as were built during the NZ Land Wars. These can be made from a wide range of resources eg wood, LEGO, cake. Let their imaginations go wild. This is a great opportunity to keep them busy and I fully encourage parental and/or sibling help. Post photos of work in progress to help inspire others.
Just a reminder that the 2 week school holidays have been brought forward and will be starting on Monday 30th. I encourage everyone to take a break over the holiday period as the well being of our students is important, more now than ever.
Today's Minecraft Join Code. This is also emailed to the students daily.
While on our morning walk we discovered a Kereru lying on the track. You could create a Murder Mystery story about how it got there and what may have happened to it.
Morning Fitness time at the Pendergrast's. Please take a video of your child finding a fun way to keep active during Lockdown and post it in the comments.
I have sent all students an email with the access code they require to use their SeeSaw account from home.
For those of you who did not receive this in your students work pack this gives your child access to some fantastic online learning. Haast Eagles have trialled Adventure Academy and have their own login details. It is a fantastic site that covers a wide range of learning areas in a fun environment.
I have enabled Google Hangouts on the students gmail accounts so that they can video chat with their friends from class. This is to help them get through the isolation period by staying in contact.
The shared MinecraftEdu world will be online from 11-12.
This page has been set up to keep in contact with Haast Eagles families during the Lock Down. It will be a place for any questions in regards to the set work that was sent home. It will also be an opportunity for me to share any extra information. Please encourage your child to check their emails regularly as I will send them information directly also.
