Just Sharing "Help Someone Wednesday"
Worth Sharing Again
GM Prayer Warriors, Father God, we warriors believe “Holidays are a necessity. For we believe there has to be at least several days of the year to remind us that we’re here for something else besides ourselves”. Eric Sevareid.

So, warriors let this holiday season be “Less Me, Less Pride, Less Anger, Less Drama, Less Gossip, Less Bitterness, Less Complaining, Less Selfishness”. Unknown.

Father God, our prayer is that we warriors be “More Giving, More Kind, More Lovable, and More Peaceful; For Father, we warriors believe we should celebrate some good towards each other every day and not just during the holiday season.

And Finally, Father, we warriors pray that we remember “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle’. James Keller.

Meditate on Hebrews 13:16. Father God, we warriors thank you for inspiring us today with this prayer, Amen. Elders George&Berdetta

Point to Ponder “Do good for others. It will come back in unexpected ways”. Unknown.

Just Sharing…To Our Family and Friends,
As the holiday season approaches, we, (George and Berdetta (Bert) want to share with you our Outreach Ministry plan for this year.

Instead of exchanging gifts with you and each other, we have chosen to bring smiles to the faces of less fortunate children under the age of 17 who may not have had a gift to unwrap, otherwise.

Of course, we will donate these gifts in your names. Thank you for always being a part of our mission of making this season a brighter time for many. May your holiday season be as happy as you will have made these children. Peace, Joy, Love…George & Berdetta

Just Sharing…A Little Something today to Think About!
(February, we call…Critical Race Awareness Month)

GM Prayer Warriors, Father God, as you know one month does not bring much awareness or justice to, we warriors Africana history so sharing our history as much as we can is part of our master plan.

Warriors did you know on February 7, 1926 “The scholar Dr. Carter G. Woodson proposed and launched "Negro History Week," which became "Black History Month" in 1976.

The author of more than 30 books was said to have chosen the month of February in order to honor two significant birthdays: Abraham Lincoln (Feb. 12) and Frederick Douglass (Feb. 14).

This distinguished man…Dr. Carter G. Woodson also known as the "Father of Black History" was the second African American to earn a doctorate from Harvard University (the first was W.E.B. Du Bois) in 1912. He died in 1950.” (Source: Zinn Education Project)

Father our prayer is that we warriors never forget Dr. Carter G. Woodson and let us continue to share our Africana history as much as we can.

And finally, warriors let us remember “You must give your own story to the world.” Dr. Carter G. Woodson.

Meditate on 1 Kings 8:57niv. Father, we thank you for inspiring us today with this prayer message, Amen. Elders George&Berdetta.

Point to Ponder: “The oppressor has always indoctrinated the weak with his interpretation of the crimes of the strong.” Dr. Carter G. Woodson.

Just Sharing :) :)

Photographer George White from the Northwest Voice came to the Woodlawn Branch’s “Share the Warmth” coat giveaway (stay tuned for pics and details), but we took his photo! George shared that he and his beloved wife Bert are huge library fans (Randallstown is their home branch). He said, “My wife and I like to read the same book and talk about it on our Friday date nights. She reads at home, but I’m on the road all of the time and borrow the audio version of the book. It works for us!”
***
George couldn't say enough about wife Bert: After more than 20 years of marriage, they still have a standing Friday date night and their entire family knows not to call them. He added that Bert is the smartest, most interesting, inquisitive and kindest person he knows. May we all be loved like Bert.

GM Prayer Warriors, Father God, as you know one month does not bring much awareness or justice to our history so sharing our history as much as we can is part of our master plan.

Warriors as you know on this day February 9, 1965, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. met with President Johnson to discuss black voting rights.

And warriors as you also know on August 6, 1965, President Lyndon Johnson signed the landmark Voting Rights Act, a centerpiece of the civil rights movement that is still the subject of debate. (Source: Black Enterprise Est. 1970).

Warriors let us never forget from “Jim Crow to Civil Rights to Black Liberation to Black Lives Matters and The Struggle Continues”. Unknown.

THE MARYLAND DEMOCRATIC PARTY RECOGNIZES BLACK HISTORY MONTH

MARYLAND -- Monday, February 1st, the Maryland Democratic Party released the following statement on the first day of Black History Month:

“This February, the Maryland Democratic Party proudly recognizes Black History Month, and honors the many Black Marylanders who have shaped our state and our nation.

“Maryland is proud to be the home or birthplace for some of history’s greatest Black leaders and barrier breakers. A state whose history represents an all too familiar duality...

— originally defined by the evil of the Atlantic slave trade, we helped give birth to the movements of abolition, civil rights, and Black Lives Matter.

Our state's Black leaders have defined generations and inspired millions; Marylanders like Frederick Douglass; Harriet Tubman; Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall; and of course, Baltimore’s Congressman Elijah Cummings.

As we honor their everlasting legacy, we must also pledge to continue their fight for equal justice under law, liberty, and opportunity for all.

“This long tradition of extraordinary trailblazers is continued by the Black Marylanders who currently serve our state. In the Maryland General Assembly...

House Speaker Adrienne Jones is the first African American and the first woman to ever hold the position, and in Congress, we are proud to be represented by Reps. Kweisi Mfume and Anthony Brown.

In our own organization, Party Chair Yvette Lewis and Executive Director Eva Lewis make the Maryland Democratic Party the first, and only, state Party in the nation to be led by African American women in both leadership roles.

“We also cannot recognize Black History Month without recognizing our country’s first Black woman Vice President, Kamala D. Harris...

A proud HBCU grad, Vice President Harris has shown that there is no limit to what can be accomplished in America.

“In these difficult, uncertain times, having strong Black leaders that truly represent the people of Maryland is more important than ever.

The Black Lives Matter movement has laid bare the systemic racism that still exists in America and shown the desperate need for criminal justice reform.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 pandemic’s disproportionate toll exposed deep inequalities in our social, political, and economic systems.

“This is why, as we recognize Black History Month, we must renew our commitment to improving the lives of Maryland’s Black communities by uplifting our leading voices...

supporting policies that will address systemic racism, and electing candidates who will fight to end inequality and reform our criminal justice system.” # # #
