Felting and painting by the wood stove at Possum’s Store with .renee. Creativity is best when it is shared.
I found a pack of possums! They are headed to a new home with .renee at Possum’s Store tomorrow.
We’re spending a few “family” days in SC and look what showed up in our campsite?
🎶 Christmas Gnomes are coming to town! Check them out in our Etsy shop🎄
Santa Gnome is coming to town!
‘Tis the season for tiny pumpkins. Check them out in our Etsy shop.
Fiber and soap. That pretty sums up my Wednesday.
Apples, pumpkins, possums—oh my! Dropped off some Fall felting fun at Possums Store today and came home with some candy corn and Sasquatch. Shop small and support small business❤️
Possum tails and pumpkin vines. The perfect way to spend a rainy day🌧.
Feeling a little witchy today! Just added this Halloween duo to our Etsy shop. Can’t wait for the change of seasons.
Guess what day it is? Pumpkin day! August will soon be a distant hot memory so we have started our Fall felting. These are the first 2 pumpkins from our wooly pumpkin patch🎃.
River Pod.
Ryan aced his felting lesson this week. First he carded his own choice of wool for his project, then he wet felted a beautiful bowl and finally a short walk by the river to find the perfect oyster shell.
Happy colors! Results of a fun day of dyeing American Rambouillet and merino wool.
Dyeing day! Final results tomorrow🌈
I made a special possum for my friend at the Post Office who relayed her recent rescue of an injured baby possum while driving to work. She wrapped it in her shirt, drove home and called many places trying to find a rescue to take the little guy. Blue Ridge Wildlife Center agreed to take the little possum and provide the medical care it required to recover. He is doing well and will be released back where he was found in the near future.
Unicorn of the sea.
And finally…..some of my felted creations are in my Etsy shop. More to come.
A rainbow of colors! Introducing our felting batts—a blend of our hand dyed and carded wools perfect for both needle and wet felting. The batts are a blend of merino, Corriedale, Rambouillet and select wools to create a batt with varied microns and lots of crimp. All wools are domestically sourced (Yay USA!) Available in our Etsy shop. Check out bio for link.
Wishing I was at the river today.
I took a little break from dyeing and carding to finish up a couple of felting projects and to just chill out and focus on “me”. But this morning, the “call of the wool” was just too strong🤣🤣🤣 four hand dyed purple wools were begging to mingle. Not sure what it will become but I love this blend.
Another grandkid challenge accepted and completed. Chloe, our resident artist, asked for a felted rose but also wanted a Yoda. Here is her one-of-a-kind “Yoda with Rose”. These kids are keeping grandma very busy!
A dragon for the “Mother of Dragons”.
Welcome to my fantasy world. Another alien and hopefully, a dragon. My grandkids are definitely challenging me.
Blending wool to find the perfect felting fiber is my new mission. And I have pumpkins and witches on my mind. So far, the favorites are blends with merino, Corriedale, Rambouillet and our original farm yard wool (that’s a nice way of saying “mutt sheep”🤣). Etsy shop will be up and running by June 1. We are proud to say all these wools are domestically sourced—go USA!❤️🇺🇸.
I went down to the studio to clean up and this bar of Rainbows & Unicorns soap from just happened to be laying on my table. I decided I needed to card some wool to match. We all need a little more Rainbows & Unicorns in our life🌈🦄.
Wet felting. My first vessel made with wool I dyed and carded. This could be addicting!
Let the fun begin! There is a learning curve to using a drum carder and I am just at the beginning. My first 2 attempts carding my hand dyed wool and I love them. Blending colors and textures will provide some excellent fibers for needle felting. And who doesn’t love a new toy?
The pocket gnomes are enjoying the ride!
Happy first day of a new week! (And yes, I’m starting this week on a Saturday). I’m getting an early start in the studio today—both soap making and wool dyeing are on the agenda. Can’t wait for the virus to exit our lives so I can open my studio up to my creative “partners in crime”❤️.
My thought for today. Plus, those colors are amazing together. I just dyed pink wool so I think I’ll be working on purple, yellow, blue and green. And I have a wool delivery coming today so I will have a new base fiber to work with. Life is good.
Multi-tasking. Un-molding soap. Distilling water (for more soap). Dying wool. I guess I’m trying to compensate for the last several months that I sat and watched Netflix for HOURS🤣🤣🤣.
An endless supply of tree trunks for my felted forest of happy little trees. I sent Wade on an expedition to find the perfect diameter oak branch and he did not disappoint. 🌲.
This was a fun felting project. My granddaughter has been drawing some really great pics so I decided to “felt one up”. ❤️.
Four Valentine Bears for my 4 grandchildren❤️.
