What we get diagnosed with is often not an isolated problem. Like in the case of diabetes, it’s not just an imbalance in the endocrine system where the pancreas has problems with release of insulin. It can also involve an imbalance in the way our cells respond to insulin and sugar in the bloodstream. Problems with insulin and blood sugar balance also cause problems within blood vessels, becoming a risk factor for heart disease, or even with metabolism of our nutrients, promoting problems with weight. ..
It can cause problems with immune function leading to predisposition to infections. Problems with blood sugar balance can damage other organs like the kidneys, eyes, and nerves leading to the complications of diabetes. It contributes to problems with other hormones like estrogen and testosterone or even problems with detoxification when it affects the liver. It also feeds inflammation within the body which can cause problems with the gut lining.

Most of the time we can tell that the food we eat causes skin issues. Like when we eat something we are allergic to, we get hives. Or if we eat sweets, chocolates, or peanuts, we get pimple flare ups. Or if we eat oily food we get scaly and flakey areas in our skin. While there is some connection there, it is also important that other factors can harm our skin too.
…
Even these factors are interconnected. For example, chronic stress promotes gut imbalances which are more likely to happen when we have food sensitivities and keep eating food devoid of nutrients and loaded with toxins, which lead to imbalances that manifest as different lesions in our skin. Whew! Sometimes it even becomes a vicious cycle.

Work with your healthcare provider to understand how the interactions of your genes, lifestyle, and environment is affecting your current state of health, what interventions need to be done, how these interventions are affecting you, and how to tailor these to your unique health needs.
