Sericulture (silk farming), a cottage-based industry, provides a stable income to many rural agricultural families and a livelihood for non-farm women giving them much economic strength and essential players in the decision-making process—whether in the household or the community at large. From raising food plants, silkworm rearing, reeling/spinning and weaving to garment manufacturing, they gain greater recognition and status in the family and society. By empowering women and promoting gender equality in our cruelty-free, sustainable production, we can significantly develop a more positive culture. And that has to be worth investing in.
