CORN! Clock is ticking!
Planted 650 Sweet Corn today (Temptress see pic).
Clock is now ticking. These are going in the ground in 10 to 14 days. But first… I have to harvest the potatoes and prep the beds. I will have a few pounds of Red and Gold NEW potatoes this week Pitchfork Market. I will probably have a few bags per week for some time. They are only New Potatoes when they are NEW. Soft skin great for red and gold skinned mashed potatoes… Tender and sweet.
Expected harvest date of corn is Aug 20 to September 3. Will be expecting around 800 ears. ALSO I will be selling the stocks for either decoration purpose or for animal bedding and feed for you horse and swine husbandmen.

This section is known as B1 and 2. When we got to the property three years ago it had 5 foot weeds and was thoroughly infested with Bermuda grass. Due to the loss of my last computer I don't have many before pics. Last December I demolished the raised beds and converted it to rows. This gave us a 240% increase in growing area.
Happy Days all!

They say "lead with your best foot forward". As I said before we have four garden areas (5800 sqft total) and this is the first and the best we have. A quick tour of "F3"... the Hoop house. It is a 20'X60' with enough room for 6 rows of Vegies and a small hardening table. This is the second season with this space and I am sure we got the soil issues worked out.
Happy Days all!

I visited Rosebird Farms last Friday... Boy did I get some great ides. West of 3rd

Weather is a bit adverse for planting. The BIG planting is going to be a week late. On the plus side, my experiment with planting some Tomatoes early was a small success. I have 2 plants that have already blossomed. Not in the best shape but overall a good experiment. Happy Days Friends!
