Stress management is crucial for both our overall health and fertility. Chronic stress can disrupt hormone balance, affect reproductive health, and impact our body's ability to function optimally. By actively managing stress, we can improve our chances of a healthy conception and enhance our well-being.

Now that it’s summer, what better time to get outside and enjoy some stress-relieving activities? Here are a few ideas to help you unwind and rejuvenate:

☀️ Nature Walks: Take a stroll in the park or hike a nearby trail. The fresh air and beautiful scenery can do wonders for your stress levels.

🌊 Beach Days: Relax by the water, soak up the sun, and listen to the calming waves.

Delicious energy-boosting smoothie to kick off the day 🍌 🥬

- frozen green banana (not yet ripe bananas are a great source of resistant starch)
- spirulina powder 1 tsp (or any greens powder)
- scoop of organic natural ground almond butter
- 2-3 organic medjool dates
- 1/4 cup organic oats (substitute for gluten free for anti-inflammatory diet)
- almond milk (can substitute with oat or coconut or h**p)
- small handful crushed ice
- pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg (optional) - adds a really yummy flavor kick 😋

FUN FACT:
Humans are 1 of 5 species that cannot make our own vitamin C!! 🤯

The United States Government only recommends that we have 60 mg a day which is not even close to the amount that we actually need, and ESPECIALLY for those who have lower immunity, live in a state of high stress, smoke, or don’t eat a variety of nutrient rich foods. The recommended amount of nutrients the government gives us is unfortunately only enough to prevent disease, but not enough to function and live optimally.

Just for some perspective, when a dog is under stress, it makes its own vitamin C - around 15,000 mg (15g)!!

We don’t have this benefit and so we must get vitamin C from outside sources - foods and good quality supplements. 🍊

Other species that cannot make vitamin C are parakeets, monkeys, Guinea pigs, and fruit bats.

Happy Saturday!! ❄️ Chiro Lounge is undergoing a major re-brand and is now officially Restore Wellness. A new and updated website is in the works and will be going live shortly after Christmas!🥳 Come the new year, Functional Medicine will be a new service being offered. I have been working very hard towards attaining this degree and am so excited to expand my practice and to offer a broader scope. Stay tuned! ✨

Starting off recovery day with some CBD hot tub salts👌🫠

Recovery days are an essential part of any type of work out regimen. Whether you’re a marathon runner, a body builder, a weekend warrior or a Pilates and Barre fanatic, we all need a little bit of rest built into the plan.

Exercise creates stress on the body. It creates the stress of depleting the cells of energy and it creates the stress of physically damaging the muscles (this is a good thing).

Recovery days allow the body to refuel the lost energy and to rebuild the damaged muscles. Avoiding rest days or at the least, avoiding adding in lower intensity workouts in between high intensity workouts can set the body up for stress injuries and overtraining!

If you’re like me and feel like you MUST workout 7 days a week, try adding in a day of active recovery by taking a long walk outside, doing a gentle yoga class or riding your bike around the neighborhood!
