As an artist, especially one who occasionally sells art on the side, I end up hanging on to a lot of stuff I don't sell... but not any more! π I now have a whole bunch of new (but old) art listed on my Etsy store, Clarissa Chawner Art.
Handmade art makes for the perfect Christmas gift! ππ

This one has been in the works for a while... (sitting on my desk, gathering dust). But now, I present to you, "Purple Rivers" πππ
(I haven't put this one up for sale on my Etsy store yet, but if you really love this piece, please message me and I can make a listing for you! π)
New blog post! ππ
After months of research, here it is! This blog post turned into a full-on mini thesis, I fell down the research hole and couldn't get out again until I'd read everything there was to read π₯² I know AI art has become kind of a controversial topic, but I wanted to educate myself on why. There was so much conflicting information, opinionated news articles, and AI imagery floating around that it was a struggle to understand what was going on π€
Which is why I distilled everything I read into one blog post. If you want to know how AI art generators work, read it! If you want to know who's suing what company, read it! And if you want to know my opinion, of course, read it π
Because spoilers: I'm not against AI. But I'm not completely for it, either. AI is a fantastic tool, but it shouldn't take the place of human artists π¨π«ΆπΌ

Better late than never πͺπΌ
Making a quilt is something I've wanted to do for ages, and now I can tick it off the list! It was definitely a learning experience, but now I have the perfect lap-sized blanket for when I sit at my desk π₯°
(I think this will be the last sewing project for a little while, so expect to see more art-related posts soon! π¨)
Another day, another dress! π This is the Bowen Dress from Peppermint Magazine, which sat unfinished for a good six months because life got in the way π₯²
(Ya know, that whole "trying to start my own business" thing!)
But she's finished now, and will be the perfect edition to my summer wardrobe! β€οΈ
Introducing original needle-punching piece titled βTwo Halvesβ π«±πΌπ«²πΌ

Introducing original needle-punching piece titled βSolar Embraceβ βοΈπ
Once again inspired by the sun and moon, Solar Embrace is the perfect neutral addition to any room.
I couldnβt cram all of my needle punching pieces into one post, so theyβre each going to get their own appreciation (and promotional!) post. You know thereβs one more to come! β¨οΈ

Featuring a warm colour palette and soft shapes, Green River is the perfect small addition to any modern space.
Yes, thatβs right, my needle punching works are up for sale! Theyβre ready to head to new homes, filled with the calm energy I felt while making them. If youβve seen my needle punching works Iβve posted previously, and have been eyeing them off, now is your chance! β€οΈ

Introducing the βSolar Sistersβ pair.
π©π»π±π»ββοΈ
Once again inspired by the contrasting energies of the sun and moon, these sisters are forever gazing at each other in an eternal orbit. Take your pick, between the masculine energy of the Sun Sister or feminine energy of the Moon Sister. Either way, these prints are meant to be together! πβοΈ
I wouldnβt say these prints are old, but theyβre not new either. Theyβre some of the first experimental linoprints I made, and (like βGirlsβ series), I look back on them fondly β€οΈ

Introducing βTempestuous Seasβ π
Inspired by watching the rough ocean swells of the beach (from the safety of my car), Tempestuous Seas shows Mother Natureβs true power. This print comes in a statement black and white, or with a blue watercolour wash to add emphasis on the sea ππ
Another old-y but a good-y! Once again, I canβt remember when exactly I made this print, but I do vividly remember drawing the initial sketch. I was sitting in my car at Bar Beach, the rain beating down, watching the waves smash the beach and marvelling at how big the swells were. Nature is a wonderful inspiration! π

Introducing the βTarotβ Collection.
ππ
Inspired by the contrast between the sun and the moon, these prints are bold yet elegant. Perfect on their own, or as a pair, these prints will bring a radiant and calming energy to any space πβοΈ
These two are newest linoprints for sale at Clarissa Chawner Art. I originally made Sleeping Sun first after a burst of inspiration, and made Gentle Moon not long after. You canβt have the sun without the moon, after all! β¨οΈ

Introducing the βGirlsβ Collection.
π©π»π©π»βπ¦°π±π»ββοΈ
A trio of watercolour prints, each depicting a lone girl. Featuring vibrant colours and excellent fashion, these prints are lovely whether theyβre hung together, or as a lone statement piece. And who are the girls? Itβs a mystery that will never be solvedβ¦ π§
These are probably the oldest prints that are currently for sale at Clarissa Chawner Art. I think I made them pre-uni, for some fun watercolour experimentation. I generally am not a fan of my older art pieces, but Iβm still as in love with these prints as I was the day I made them β€οΈ

After what feels like a lifetime of preparation, my shop is finally live!! Clarissa Chawner Art is now a thing! π₯³π
(I know itβs not very original, but Iβve gone this far with my own name, thereβs no turning back now.)
Thereβs been lots of making stuff, taking photos, staring blankly at my computerβ¦ but itβs all come to this! πͺπΌ Art that Iβve made (with love) now online for people to buy (if they want). It would mean the world to me if you could go and have a look, spread the word, and get your hands on some art! ππΌ
