For Jay, ranching is more than an occupation. It’s a way of life – a great life. Jay and his family call Cow Springs Ranch in New Mexico home. They raise Black Angus, and soon they’ll produce a new crop: clean, home-grown wind energy.

“We chose to partner with [NextEra Energy Resources, through its subsidiary Borderlands Wind Energy Center] ... it’s all part of how we’re going to make a living in the future. It’s not going to be based just on cattle. It also gives us better roads. They improve the roads where they put the turbines. They’re going to add a few roads, which will gain us access to areas that we’ve never had, other than horseback. And it’s not costing you to improve your roads.” – Jay, rancher and Borderlands Wind Energy Center partner.
