[𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦] The College of Business Administration (CBA) expresses its sincere congratulations to the USeP Young Marketers Society (YMS) for having been hailed as the overall 1st Runner Up of the recently concluded 12th Agui-Po Awards, held at the Arrupe Hall and Finster Auditorium, at the Ateneo de Davao University campus, Davao City on April 11-13, 2024.

This inter-school competition aimed to unite and showcase the potential of marketing students and foster harmonious relationships with various business schools in Mindanao. It was participated in by 11 higher education institutions in the region.

Proudly, the participants alongside their supportive adviser Dr. Helen Grace Legorio and coaches Dr. Sharon Binoya, Dr. Karl Campos, Dr. Jonathan Gano-an, and Asst. Prof. Nash Reginio bagged four Champion awards, namely: Agui-Pop Star, Carousel Ad, Digital Marketing, and Product Demonstration, with two 2nd Runner Up awards for Product Photography and Quiz Bowl and participation in the Creative Video Ad.

On April 15, 2024, the winners with their adviser and coach, together with the CBA Dean Dr. Edeliza S. Gonzales and the PAD Director Dr. Rosfe Corlae D. Badoy, paid a courtesy visit to the University President, Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr. to present the awards. Acknowledging the achievement of the students, Pres. Gabales emphasized that their participation and winning is a contribution to the University’s vision, mission, and goals, whilst igniting the spirit of a government scholar- embody competence and bring pride to the University.

[𝗘𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗨𝗥𝗦] The USeP College of Business Administration (CBA) has conducted its GAD Session and Entrepreneurial Skills Training for the womenpreneur-participants under the 𝘼𝙡𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙮 𝙨𝙖 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙮 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢 2.0 (𝘼𝘽𝙋 2.0) at the CBA Learning Resource Center, Obrero Campus last April 28, 2023.

Sharing her inputs on women empowerment is Dr. Sharon L. Binoya, the CBA Gender and Development (GAD) Coordinator. This part of the training aims to educate how our womenpreneurs can best capacitate themselves in the face of the ever-changing times given their other roles in their respective households as wives, mothers, and grandmothers, as well as roles as professionals/ entrepreneurs. Dr. Binoya stressed the value of self-empowerment as a means towards furthering their goals in achieving inclusive entrepreneurship.

In ushering our womenpreneur-participants into the world of business, no less than our College Dean, Dr. Gilbert M. Gordo, has given his inputs on the topic “Introduction to Business Planning”. Dr. Gordo underscored the value of business planning in ensuring the successful launching of their respective business enterprises, as well as in guaranteeing its continuity in the long run, thereby ensuring inclusive entrepreneurship among womenpreneurs.

On the part of entrepreneurial skills training for our womenpreneur-participants, Dr. Rey A. Castillo and Ms. Rubylene A. Masinadiong gave their inputs as well as facilitated the activities aimed at further enhancing their entrepreneurial skills vis-à-vis their respective business plans, consistent with the ABP's goal towards realizing inclusive entrepreneurship. Truly, it is deemed as an activity worth participating in as it further enables our womenpreneurs to take charge of their respective businesses and move forward in making sure that they are not left behind in the ever-changing business setting while making their dreams come true.

A new and friendly feathered member of the community is here!

The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) launched its own first chatbot artificial intelligence (AI) information assistant dubbed as ‘SePhi’ on May 2, 2023, at the College of Information and Computing Audio-visual Room (CIC-AVR), USeP Obrero campus, Davao City.

Designed to provide a comprehensive, accurate, and client-responsive system that delivers immediate replies to queries in ‘real time’, SePhi will be embedded and functional on the social media accounts of the University (Facebook and Instagram), and soon on the official website of the USeP at usep.edu.ph.

While still in its early phase, the university appealed to the public to use the Chatbot to connect to the university. As SePhi is a ‘work in progress’ there are still some adjustments needed while using it as it is still being polished to help with USeP’s virtual interaction. SePhi is intended to be used by university students, employees, alumni, and other prospective clients.

The launching was attended by the University's top management officials led by Dr. Generalao, faculty and staff, student body representatives, and alumni representatives.

[𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐃 ] The 𝐴𝑙𝑎𝑙𝑎𝑦 𝑠𝑎 𝐵𝑎𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑎𝑦 𝑃𝑟𝑜𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑚 2.0 (𝐴𝐵𝑃 2.0): Empowering Womenpreneurs of the 𝙲𝚘𝚕𝚕𝚎𝚐𝚎 𝚘𝚏 𝙱𝚞𝚜𝚒𝚗𝚎𝚜𝚜 𝙰𝚍𝚖𝚒𝚗𝚒𝚜𝚝𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 (𝙲𝙱𝙰) conducted entrepreneurial skills training for the womenpreneurs from Barangay Centro (San Juan), Agdao in USeP Obrero Campus last March 31, 2023. This activity is the continuation of the Technology Matching done on March 24, 2023 which was facilitated by the AGILab TBI of the University. In the recent training session, the womenpreneurs were taught how to make the chosen food products for possible business venture. Select faculty and students from the BS in Hospitality Management (BSHM) Program of the college facilitated the training. What a way to end the celebration of the National Women’s Month! Hats off to our dear womenpreneurs who participated in the College’s Extension activity.

[𝐂𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍 𝐄𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓] The College of Business Administration (CBA) joins the University community in the celebration of the 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑾𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏’𝒔 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒉 2023, with its female faculty members providing the encouragement towards the holistic formation of undergraduate and graduate students in line with today’s ever-changing environment. Much respect and appreciation are hereby given to our dear female faculty members, whose disarming presence and inspiration have provided the direction to our female students towards their transformation into today’s modern women.

Taking the lead in women empowerment by wearing one’s best 'purple' is our Dean, Dr. Gilbert M. Gordo. In doing so, CBA has strongly espoused the value of gender equality and women empowerment as the College takes on a greater role in today's society especially in the business environment.

[𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗗] In the culmination of the Innovation for Social Impact Partnership- Visiting Professor Program (ISIP- VPP) funded by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Academy of Entrepreneurs (AE), an institution based in Australia, via Zoom on March 31, 2023.

On behalf of the University President, Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao, Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs represented USeP while Ms. Paula Mills, Founder and Chief Operating Officer, represented AE.

Ms. Mills served as a visiting professor under the ISIP-VPP and has conducted sessions with students and faculty members of the College of Business Administration (CBA) as well as with the staff of the USeP Advancing Greater Ideas Laboratory- Technology Business Incubator (AGILab TBI).

Also present during the culminating program and MoU signing were CBA Dean, Dr. Gilbert M. Gordo, who delivered the welcome remarks; AGILab Project Leader and CBA International Affairs Coordinator, Dr. Karl P. Campos, who gave the rationale and discussed the highlights of the ISIP VPP; International Affairs Division Director, Dr. Reynaldo M. Nogodula; UNDP Philippines Resident Representative, Dr. Selva Ramachandran, CBA faculty and staff, and AGILab TBI staff.

ISIP-VPP is a program that invites international experts to share knowledge on best practices in entrepreneurship teaching, start-up enterprises, mentorship, and incubator management.

[LOOK] Alalay sa Barangay 2.0 (ABP 2.0): Empowering Womenpreneurs is the College Extension Program of the College of Business Administration with Barangay Centero (San Juan), Agdao, Davao City as our partner community in collaboration with KTTD and AGILab TBI.

The activity was led by AGILab along with the makers of the technology and they presented the food products to the women. The event was filled with a meaningful discussion about the step-by-step process of food product development. Part of the activity is a selection of the technologies they wanted to adopt which could become their potential small business venture.

[ＩＮＶＩＴＡＴＩＯＮ] In today’s fast-paced global setting, artificial intelligence (AI) is seen as a means of “democratizing finance” as conveyed by Mark Carney, the former Bank of England governor. AI is employed these days to analyze credit decisions in order to provide a faster and more accurate assessment of potential borrowers, as attested by the partnership sealed between Barclays and Amazon last November 2020 which sought to link data with AI analysis for approving credit (or otherwise) and predict the kind of customized services that clients will want next.
In response to these dynamic changes, the College of Business Administration (CBA) intends to provide valuable information to its students as to the role of AI in business. With this, the 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬’ 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 (𝐅𝐢𝐌𝐒𝐒) is spearheading the 𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗞𝗦 series starting with the webinar entitled “𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝑨𝑰 𝒊𝒔 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑭𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆”. [ＩＮＶＩＴＡＴＩＯＮ] In today’s fast-paced global setting, artificial intelligence (AI) is seen as a means of “democratizing finance” as conveyed by Mark Carney, the former Bank of England governor. AI is employed these days to analyze credit decisions in order to provide a faster and more accurate assessment of potential borrowers, as attested by the partnership sealed between Barclays and Amazon last November 2020 which sought to link data with AI analysis for approving credit (or otherwise) and predict the kind of customized services that clients will want next.

In response to these dynamic changes, the College of Business Administration (CBA) intends to provide valuable information to its students as to the role of AI in business.
