Emily Venuti NC34
Digital Content Producer for WIVT/WBGH and big cat person! Daily Adoptable Pet of the Day and This Day in History segments. Let's adopt some shelter animals!
This is not the version I expected them to put on air!
Here's my first Pet of the Day to the last.
I will miss it so much!
I'm back from my wedding and honeymoon and back at Adoptable Pet of the Day!
Though...I do have some personal news. This was my last adoptable pet shoot. I will be moving on from NewsChannel 34 and leaving the industry. You can catch my segments through next Tuesday.
Thank you so much for following along and letting me tell you about all the fabulous adoptable pets in our area! I will truly miss introducing these guys and helping them find their forever homes. It was an opportunity I'll treasure forever.
But the segment isn't going anywhere! My coworker and friend, Noah Holloway, will be the new host.
Anyway, here's Pistachio. You can catch his tv debut tonight!
Prepare to have your heart melted...meet Jett!
Jett is a super sweet and cuddly guy, about 1 to 2 years old.
If you're on the hunt for a long hair, Jett would be absolutely perfect.
You can adopt him now through Lava's Lost and Forgotten Felines.

Here's another top ten cat. This is Murphy. Murphy is unbelievably sweet and loving and you can hold him all day. He'll even tap your face with his paws to so affection (SO CUTE).
If you're interested in Murphy, he's adoptable through a local rescue called Lava's Lost and Forgotten Felines. You can find them here on Facebook or email [email protected]

Riggs has been up for adoption since he was a kitten...4 years ago!!

Clover says "Happy St. Patrick's Day!"
(she promises to make you laugh all year long)
Kenobi's face says "please take me home!"
Interested in a super loving, playful pup? Kenobi is up for adoption at Broome County Dog Shelter and Camp Barkalot. Another super great guy.

This made me smile! Love Jasper :)
We’ve been fooled! Jasper’s no dog he is a seal pup! 🦭 Sorry bud but this is a dog shelter.
Someone fill out a questionnaire to get him outta here! We don’t have any fish 🐠.

Here's another girl who breaks my heart.
Grace is a 4 year-old Shepard mix who had the most beautiful puppies last year.
As we often see in these situations, all of her babies have gone home but she is still at the shelter.
Please consider taking Grace if you're in the position to do so. She has such a sweet demeanor and has come so far.
https://www.binghamtonhomepage.com/news/watch-adoptable-pet-of-the-day-meet-grace-2/
Meet Tadpole (he came with that name). Tadpole is a mixed breed, but his Dalmatian is clear! Look at those spots! If you watch this video, you'll hear his bark, a protector's bark. Tadpole promises to protect you and your family if you adopt him.
He's got tricks, too!
https://www.binghamtonhomepage.com/news/watch-adoptable-pet-of-the-day-meet-tadpole/
Oh my goodness, look at the ears on Domino!
Domino has been at the shelter for a bit and I am completely in love with him. He's a bigger, energetic dog so that may not work for some people, but if you're looking for a workout pal, or just a dog who will chase toys until he's blue in the face, then Domino would be a really, really great pet for you.
Also...just look at him!!
He's available right now at Broome County Dog Shelter and Camp Barkalot.
(he's also wearing an ACDC shirt, so already a big fan)

I know I feature lots and lots of cats, but in March I'm at the Broome County Dog Shelter and Camp Barkalot for all the dog lovers out there!
Today we have Paddy. Paddy is one of my favorite dogs, she has such a sweet presence and quiet demeanor. She's also been at the shelter for way too long, so of course we'd LOVE to see her get adopted!

Ending this month at SPEAK Animal Hospital / Cat Sanctuary with Saucy Sally.
Sally has been featured 4 times in the past year. She doesn't love other cats, so that makes it a little tougher to adopt out.
Please consider Sally, if you can, and give her a good home!
https://www.binghamtonhomepage.com/news/watch-adoptable-pet-of-the-day-meet-sally-4/
I swear I need some type of award if I make it through this SPEAK shoot without adopting a cat.
I have another favorite. This is Declan.
Declan may have a little extra weight (some of the best of us do), but he's got this teeny tiny meow that will melt you!
Declan is actually back at the shelter for the 2nd time, he did absolutely nothing wrong, but of course we don't want him to stay there for long.
PLEASE consider Declan. He is honestly the best. He's at SPEAK Animal Hospital / Cat Sanctuary
https://www.binghamtonhomepage.com/news/watch-adoptable-pet-of-the-day-meet-declan/
In today's edition of cats that I want...
Meet Galaga! His brother went home awhile ago and now he's looking for his forever home.
Just look at his face! He had a painful mouth condition called stomatitis that really hurt him, but he did have a full mouth extraction and is now playing like it never happened.
In conclusion, I absolutely love Galaga, and you will, too. Just pay him a visit at SPEAK Animal Hospital / Cat Sanctuary. You won't last two minutes without asking for an application.
(and yes, I do realize all the cats I fall head over heels with are orange!)

Posting the unedited version of Kickstand's segment because I'm just so excited about him.
I was having a bad day until I held Kickstand.
Adopt a cat that will bring you endless joy, make your bad days better, calm you down and be your best friend.
Kickstand is available at the SPEAK Animal Hospital / Cat Sanctuary IF I don't get to him first.
I didn't know we had this clip until I started editing today's segment and laughed so hard.
Cats are the best. The look on her face when she got caught says everything.
Anyway, that's Videl, and she's available at SPEAK Animal Hospital / Cat Sanctuary
Just a quick personal note:
I had the idea for Adoptable Pet of the Day in August of 2020, thinking it would just be a temporary thing. Now that it's in its second year, I am beyond thankful I have the opportunity to showcase these sweet cats and dogs every day, and have even helped some find their forever homes.
A deep thank you from the bottom of my heart for the kind words/comments/likes/shares/messages I've received. This truly means the world. As a shier person, these segments are a big leap out of my comfort zone but I am so thankful to be able to do them.
These shelters are full of amazing animals and people who wish nothing but the best. Please consider a rescue animal for your next pet. I'd be happy to recommend one!
Thanks for the read. I'll leave you with a picture of Eggnog, who just got adopted!!
I'm so excited for today's adoptable pet!
I first met Paddy last June, and he was way too scared to come out and be featured, so we did the best we could.
Fast forward to October, he was getting a lot better.
But now, he's sitting on my lap!
Paddy and his best friend, Gandalf, are the sweetest pair and if you have room for 2 more in your home, I strongly encourage to you reach out to SPEAK Animal Hospital / Cat Sanctuary

*Now bring us some Figgy Pudding* :)
Meet Figgy Pudding! This sweet & petite girl has been around since Christmas time and is just waiting for her forever home. She's a little under a year.
We're back at SPEAK Animal Hospital / Cat Sanctuary for the month of February! Watch:

The best part of my job is when the right pet gets put in front of the right person and they get adopted.
The worst is when I come back week after week or month after month and see the same ones still hanging around - and honestly, Baby Boy just perplexes me.
I've done Baby Boy two other times. I cannot for the life of me figure out why he's still there.
He always comes right up to me, loves attention, and is one of the sweetest cats I've ever seen.
Black cats get overlooked a lot. Please don't let this stop you from adopting one of the best cats there is! He's at Every Cat's Dream

Happy Wednesday from Mina and I
This is sweet Penny's third time being featured in the past year.
She's been at the shelter for most of her 3 years :(
If you're interested in adopting a cat, Penny's a little shy but she just hasn't found her people yet!!
Find her at Every Cat's Dream.

Shocked to discover one of my favorite adoptable pets I've ever done on my segment is still at the shelter! This is Leilani, and I absolutely fell head over heels for her. I seriously thought she was going to be gone in a week. Please consider adopting this sweet girl! AND she's a female ginger, which is super cool.
She's at SPEAK Animal Hospital / Cat Sanctuary

Olivia is still at the shelter.
This is the 5th time I've featured Olivia - it's almost been a year since the first one.
Olivia has been adopted but she doesn't do well in active or loud homes. If you live alone or with few people and don't have any young children, please consider Olivia.
She's 13 but still has a lot of life in her.

Halloween is just around the corner! If you have pets please keep them in mind!
Don't try to dress up your dog or cat if they clearly don't want it.
Make sure shier pets have places to hide where they can feel safe and away from all the action.

We've moved on to SPEAK Animal Hospital / Cat Sanctuary for October and today we have Paddy.
You may remember Paddy as a super shy guy we featured twice back in June.
